You say you only control the DHCP server. In that case that's the end of your responsibility. Make sure the DHCP server remains stable and healthy. Make those who control the network deal with the problem. There are ton's of solutions to this problem but since you are not really in control of many parts of the network its not your problem.
Some of the previous post write this type of tech off without considering it could be used as one part of the solution. The only way to improve traffic is a system that effectively intergrates several options. One option, let's say mass transit, cannot do it alone.
Imagin if you could tie this system into traffic signals. The combination of routing a certain set of vehicles to alternate routes along with changing the timing of lights on several routes could ease congestion in many cases. Most of the gridlock I see is not caused my a major accident but small incidents. Add an effecient system that deals with moving hazards off the road quickly,something like what they have on the autobahn we probably see huge back ups reduced. There will always be some gridlock but that does not mean a system has failed.
If it were a choice why do unions for employees to join. If my current employer were bought by a shop that was unionized the union would make it mandatory I join or walk the unemployment line.
Today's unions are nothing but corrupt corporations themselves.
I wish people stop putting statellite on a throne. Satellites have exclusive rights to NFL season packet. Is that fair? Satellite and Cable companies are after the same thing. $$$$$.
Honestly you would get a more accurate answer from the people living in your area. I happen to have Comcast and get excellent service. Only times I have had outages in past year was due to the fact that my entire neighborhood was without power. But I have a friend in a town 2 hours away who had tons of service problems with Comcast. I think when it boils down to it it's a matter of how well the techs in your area maintain the plant.
I have several friends with satellite and i'm impressed with the pics. Only issues I see with sat is if you dont own the place you might have trouble mounting the dish in the best location.
I would talk to some of your new neighbors and see how service has been for them. If service is great go with the cheapest. Just make sure you compare regular rates not some promo.
As for the commercials. There have been ones against cable too. Both sides exagerate claims. That's the nature of advertising.
