First, I'll believe this when I hear it from Apple.
Second, at the D conference, Jobs had this to say in response to porting OS X to other platforms (the transcription was apparently written hastily):
other platforms like XBOX? (((no laughs))).......... you mean like PCs, Intel......? we think we make the best hardware in the world......... generally the macosx customer likes good hardware............ we're sticking to our program right now........

Mac OS X 10.4.1 Is Out

According to the Knowledge Base about the update, all previously-installled third-party Mail.app plug-ins will not load. I assume that means that you just need to reinstall them.
You made a jackass comment that was neither well written nor respectful (as you described it in your own blog post) on a company blog. I'm surprised they even put it back up.
According to Apple's Tiger FAQ the cost is $9.95 plus shipping and handling.
But...on Apple's Up-to-Date FAQ it states: "The $9.95 (U.S. dollars) that you pay for the Up-to-Date kit is the charge for media and handling charges. Shipping is free unless you choose express shipping." So the extra $9.95 is to pay for the actual CD media itself (not the software contained thereon). I'm guessing the handling fee is for the employee carrying it to the shipping department?
If the exchanging media in the retail stores is as you say it is, I'd like to see it included in the FAQ for purchasing Tiger for reference.
I think the keyword there is "seems." I've played with iTunes for Windows on my roommate's PC, and it does "seem" inferior though technically it works great.
It might just be the different GUI standards between Windows and OS X. The two apps are the exact same, but in the context of the Windows desktop environment, something doesn't seem right.
The parent's quote is a curious one, and I can't understand why iTunes and Quicktime seem so inferior on Windows either. Maybe someone with a better understanding of GUI standards can clarify?
Perhaps it is a European way of saying it?
It is. In the U.S. we say "going to college".

That's right. I did basically those same steps to re-enable GrowlMail.
Yep.

Nope. Still not enabled, as the Quartz Debug Tools menu shows: you still need to manually enable it.

Awesome! Thanks very much.

When's the official MPEG-4 lossless codec supposed to come out?
Competition is a good thing. Firefox'll still be around. Google might just have something that no one's thought of yet.
