I don't want to sound to trollish, but:
If it were the aperture plate cut wrong (which it isn't) someone would have noticed it and had it replaced. had the aperture plate been misaligned some clueless patron would have bitched about it.
To you kids who dont know: this type of thing could happen at your local theater. An idiot projectionist could have threaded the film backwards, or (more plausible for you guys who know what I'm talking about) the aperture plate might not have moved all the way if an automated lens change occured.
Since I read this article I have seen them in ever movie I have seen. LotR, Texas Chainsaw, Gothika, Cat in the Hat, Last Samurai, etc. But they were really noticeable in Master and Commander.
To summarize the article, the dots ruin the compressions techniques of the codecs and cause the movie files to be ridiculously big. I personally think they are annoying as hell.
I seriously didn't think so much data was processed with COBOL. We have such wonderful things nowadays, like C, Perl, Python, SQL, XML. Do people still use COBOL cause they're too lazy to upgrade to something more efficient? Will I actually have to not blow off taking a class on COBOL??
The thing I don't understand is why I never get spam. Everyone complains about getting spam. I only get e-mails from things I sign up for. maybe I'm just careful, my hotmail account used to get spammed alot, and when I ran a linux mailserver I made a pretty script to add mail server that sent me spam to ipchains. I don't get it.
But did they really delete the music? I bet it can still be recovered. Since we all deleting merely erases the entry from the FAT table. I think the music is still on these peoples computers, RIAA better sue them.
And FYI my Music directory is 13GB on a drive that has only an 18.2 GB capacity, my pirated videos and movies take up the rest;)
First I'd like to say how good it feels to know that I got to see this movie at 1230 CST Wed. morning and that I can go see it again for free whenever I feel the urge. (I work in a movie theater)
Secondly,
They tried to explain about how the programs have personalities. I came up with an idea, perhaps programs in the matrix are really another level of existence. Think Hindu reincarnation here, perhaps in the grand scheme of things you could be reincarnated as a program. It would explain why they have personalities and love and hate. Reincarnation would certainly cause them to forget they were human in a past life. It might be a stretch but it's always a possibilty.
Personally, I like the movie and enjoyed the way it is set up for another sequel, or fanfic, or games, or anything.
Ok, I might not be a big fan of higher math (completeing the square was enough for me), but what I want to know is what type of "nuclear weapon simulation" equations are going to be so complicated that they would require a while to solve even running at 1 petaflop? Furthermore who is the poor guy who had to come up with these equations? I say they should just run folding or SETI @ Home on it. Can you imagine how long a work unit would take?
The article says WindowsCE will be "taken into consideration" as part of the OS standard. I ask you do you really want a windows kernel controlling your anti-lock brakes?
These films go to the projection houses long before their release dates and are often seen on the internet often before opening day.
That's not how it works at the theater I work at. I am a projectionist and the way it works for us is the movies get delivered in their cans by say Airborne Express or some other courier company usually Thursday afternoon, get built up in the evening and we employees watch them about 12:30 Friday morning. I imagine it works abot this same way at many other theaters.

They do get free beverages. I don't know about you but I can drink ALOt of free soda.

Jumping; is useless!
