I ran linux for years. I moved to mac because I wanted a linux notebook, but couldn't find one, mostly due to the state of wireless drivers (that has sense been rectified).
I have to say that I love the apple UI a lot more then I have ever liked gnome or kde. There are a lot of things I like and dislike about both. But if I could pick and choose, I'd keep the apple UI.
I wouldn't mind a touch based RTS. Use the TV as a battle overview for all players, then each player has a small hand held device that is their 'commanders view' where they can scroll around and give units commands via a touch interface.
We are looking to migrate to IE8 in the next 3 months actually. We are currently on IE7. All of our applications work in any browser now. The only main issue is testing that the IE8 push won't break any workstations.
That is no longer a valid excuse. The cost of upgrading to apps that support a recent version of IE should be significantly less then the cost of cleaning up after IE6.
Of course their not going to do it until it bites them in the ass over and over, which is why I am happy every time I see an IE6 user get exploited. I've spent the last year of my life re-writing applications to be browser neutral for my job, so at least some companies are getting it.
It half works. It is not just fine. In fact quick google for IE8 png transparency shows tons of issues people have.
It was supposed to be fixed in IE7, but in practice it was not all that great there either. For example, you can't use a transparent png in a background.
Yea, portal was a great game with a great ending and it was still open ended enough to allow a sequel. Even if they choose not to make a sequel it still stands by itself.
The game had an 'ending' but it was so rushed it didn't make sense. The last battle seemed like you were suppose to have done something else first and the dialog made it seem like you missed a bunch of content.
Plus there were character storylines (like HK) t hat were never finished. It was a god damn let down at the end.
Personally, I want gmail push for my work and personal accounts, calendars, and contacts. I can get that via activesync right now on only one of those two accounts. That is a problem.
The high risk of flying?
Can you tell me what is more dangerous: Driving a car in chicago or flying on a airplane?
There is no reason for the level of security in todays airports.

It would be cool, but impractical.
Because you can hack around the problem makes the problem ok?
I do application development for osx. Should I be using visual studio?
I mean, I do application development, so I should have used VS... right?
I'm actually an xcode fan. I hated it at first, but now I love it.
How about you gauge the cost of a security breach that will eventually happen against the cost of not using legacy applications.

Except that my single usb cable moves my keyboard, mouse, webcam, and speakers to the monitor.
Every other monitor I've seen requires an extra audio cable to move sound to it.
Which is kinda how it is now for me with my apple display.
I bring notebook home, plug in 3 cables (mini-display port, usb, and power) and boom everything is on my 24 inch display.
Not as nice as my dell with a docking station, but still nice.
Firewire didn't gain traction because of licensing fees. As far as I know (at least for mini-displayport) there is no fee.

As long as you don't want PNG transparencies, then you have to hope their not using IE.

You realize in their demo video, they write a adblock like jetpack with 80 lines of code.
You realize you can have a map app on a android phone that has 16 gigs of map data. Only the executable has to fit in that tiny space.
It is a problem yes, but not a major problem.

please give an example of an app with a executable (not resources such as textures, maps, music, etc) that is too large to fit in 190 megs?
lie to apple?
I'm a mac user. I switched from safari to chrome. My wife switched from ff to chrome.
If they want me to wear the shirts 4 days a week, they better give me more then 4 shirts.
There is a reason I have more than 2 or 3 pairs of dress slacks. I'm not doing laundry every night.
My doctor usually wears dockers and a polo when I visit him. I usually am the one in the uniform....(put this on).
Damn it! I used the wrong your (you're)!
There goes my argument....
