Well, first you need to simply squat on some land until you legally own it. Then you need to build your own house from materials found on that land. Finally a generator, a well, and a few million miles of cat5e and your set.
The place I work just had the exact same problem. DC caps went bad and nobody noticed. Power went out and the backup didn't have enough juice to let the batteries kick in and move to the generator.
At least I don't feel really bad now, just bad.
Yea, but the reason I like staying on LTS is that they always support LTS to LTS upgrades.
If you stay on any other release you can't always jump right to the latest, you have to hit the releases in-between.
I go from LTS to LTS. But those incrmental upgrades are great. It gives the bleeding edge people something to do, and it let's me keep tabs on what will show up in the next LTS.
I deleted all my pictures and I did use the delete account link (not deactivate) but I didn't unfriend everyone. I was thinking in two weeks when they 'really' delete it that would take care of that part for me.
I actually deleted my facebook profile last week. But that doesn't mean they are actually going to delete my information or prevent anyone from tagging/talking about me.
I want my close button in the top left, or top right of the window. Any other location does not make sense. The top left position doesn't annoy me so much, it's the button order.
Actually the top left does annoy me because there is no unified desktop for linux. Many applications will not be using the theme (kde apps for example) and thus look completely wrong.
99% of the time, close is the only button I want to use. Putting it in a corner makes it easier on the muscle memory imho.
Honestly, if this was not easily fixable by switching themes I would not use ubuntu and move to something else.
I think everyone has a vote. The vote is simple. If you like a product you will use it, you will tell your friends about it, and you will (hopefully) report bugs and help people solve support issues.
If ubuntu starts making changes that I don't agree with (the kind of change listed above is something that may fall into that category) then I will vote by switching to another operating system (distro).
If ubuntu can't get enough 'votes' they will just turn into a circle jerk of a few devs and everyone else will use an operating system that gives them what they want.
I had some kid who is running for state office spam me. At first I though it was a legit comment, until the exact same comments (and reply comments) appeared on a dozen people I know's buzz accounts.
Look on the bright side. You won't have to keep fixing their computer....

The same way everyone got sucked into myspace, then facebook, then twitter, etc. If it's good people will use it and they will invite their friends.

If they only provided high quality apps the app store wouldn't have a billion apps it in. It would have about 200.
Man people are assholes. Hey that guy left something behind and it has value, I'll keep it. I mean fuck him right?
It's probably true. He posts on slashdot so we know he has at least never once lost his virginity.
You can also call GUIs made with interface builder with AppleScript.
I've always used either straight apple script to make dialogs and call my bash scripts or I use apple script to call nib files made with interface builder and have that call my bash scripts. You can see an example of that here: http://tacticalcoder.com/blog/2009/05/accessing-remote-machines-via-ssh-with-finder/

unless you want a totally closed PC like iPhone or iPad, and even Apple isn't stupid enough to try to do such restrictions on Mac OS X)
You forgot the word YET. I have no doubt it is going to happen.
And yet I've had my own clips taken down because the radio was on in the background and some content provider complained to youtube.
So I can post a unmodified 1 minute video on youtube simply because the radio was on and some filter decided that was too much infringement.
Greenland is a country?
My only problem with windows 7 is that the UI takes up too much space. I don't need a 1 inch thick bar around my windows thanks...
I believe the UI should be almost unnoticeable, just barely big enough to contain the controls they place there.
A cube, not really, but on OSX I can have as many virtual desktops as I require (16 max).
Who needs a cube animation?

I've always though the cost of your ticket should be based on the pound (or kilo) not just you, but the total weight of you and your luggage.
Why is my ticket the same cost as a lady 100 pounds heavier with 200 pounds more luggage?
