This is exactly why trustworthy reporting outlets try to verify sources before reporting as fact. However, this becomes difficult in this time of now, faster, beat the other guy, instant publishing.

Funny, but just a few weeks ago I had to remove one of these things from a friend's computer. His verical software provider had run Malwarebytes without success. I tried a couple things, but was only sucessful after booting with Linux and running clamAV, then booting in safe mode and running comboFix, then Spybot. Finally, it was gone. I confirmed with Malwarebytes and another run of Spybot.

    Total time 6 hours.

    Today's Sun/Oracle Announcement

This is one of the toughest emails I've ever had to write.

It's also one of the most hopeful about Sun's future in the industry.

    ...

Thank you for everything you've done over the years, and for everything you will do in the future to carry the business forward. I'm incredibly proud of this company and what we've accomplished together.

Details will be forthcoming as we work together on the integration planning process.

    AJAX? Why?

Because is solves some problems, not all, but some.

I have been writing web apps since '94 with a wide range of backend languages, mostly hung on some type of DB. Over the past six years I have been working on a successful network managment/workflow/helpdesk app that has evolved from simple server-side to more client-side to homegrown AJAX using IFRAMES to cross-platform AJAX. As the app has matured and grown in features, we attack problems using the best available technologies because the customer experience demands it.

We have to adapt to keep our customers happy. That keeps the oney coming in. So the benefits do justify the extra work, the refactoring, the time, etc.

  7. Working from home on Coders Say Yes To Telecommuting, No To Ping Pong · · Score: 2

As one who has worked from home for a year, I can say that it definitely is the best thing that has happened to my career. I went from a 70 minute commute to working in my basement office. We have weekly meetings (~2hr) and occasionally others.

In fact, we have a distributed company where most employees do not work from the office. We either work from home or are on the road. Files are centrally located so they can be accessed from anywhere.

However, it is NOT for everyone. You must be self-motivated, driven, resourceful, focused, and trustworthy.

    PRO's
Flexibility -- Take the kids to the doctors if needed and make up the hours later in the evening. Get up later and work late if that is more productive.

Efficiency -- Work when the the ideas flow. Don't bang your head against a wall for hours just because you are at the office.

Atmosphere -- Fewer interuptions. Close to the fridge. Don't have to listen to 5 other people's choice in music.

    CON's
Consuming -- Easier to put in WAY more time because the office is right here.

Solitude -- Sometimes it is nice to discuss problems with peers, face to face.

All in all, it is the best arrangement for me. And the company gets more out of me without it hurting too much.
