"One could say that Open Source software is a form of communism (remember small 'c'). However, Communism (capital 'C') is more than an economic system. It is a system in which little value is placed on individuals, so that the greater good (so to speak) is benefited. However, in Practice that is not even the case."
By your definition Capitalism is Slavery. Only those with money matter, and the rest have the right to be homeless and die.
Where are the internet stamps?
You sound like an unknowledgeable fool who forgot to do his research before posting on slashdot. The best way to help people in poverty is to give them a way out, meaning an education which definately will include internet access, jobs which should come after they are educated, and welfare reform so they arent paid not to work.
I think Sega had it right with Seganet. If Sega would have had more financial resources, we'd all be playing Dreamcast connected to Seganet right now.
Corporate strategy will not beat corporate dollars. Microsoft is a success not because they had a good strategy, they are a success because they had the dollars and they used it.
Sony had not originally planned to go online, their system came with no modem, and no harddrive. Sony should include the modem with every system being sold from now on, and include a harddrive as well while at the same time dropping the price of the system.
Sony could also hire Sega to build their online network considering the fact that Sega has as much experience with this as Microsoft.
Linux is based on unix which was designed to be secure. SE-Linux is very secure. Free/OpenBSD is very secure.
Being open source simply allows the hackers to fix the code a bit faster, for faster updates and or patches. The security aspects of linux comes after the open source code matures. Over a period of years eventually Linux becomes stable and secure enough through natural evolution of trial end error. Microsofts code however never improves and stays static for 5 years, and we still are dealing with buffer overflow exploits even now.
So in Linux there is no way someone would be hacked via a buffer overflow through a picture file in the browser, and it obviously does not work in Mozilla,or any other browser.
Think about that.
Loki just came too soon, before linux on the desktop took off. Now Linux is on the desktop, we need to sell games.
Yes people will pay for an open source MMORPG, 10 bucks a month.
IE is built into the shell.
Two seperate programs, same interface, same program.
Mozilla is built from lots of seperate modules as well, but if Mozilla used the same cheap trick they could just seperate mozilla files into 20 seperate files so you cant easily figure out how much ram Mozilla uses
Why the double standard? Teachers get to grade students. Teachers get to write reports and give labels to students such as ADHD, or whatever.
Why the hell cant students do the same? In a fair system they can.
And what if someone releases a superworm which using this exploit hacks millions of computers in a matter of hours?
Microsoft needs to do something about their terrible security.
What are you talking about? Linux surpassed OSX earlier this year. Linux is second place right now.
Consider the fact that China, India, Europe, Africa, South America, all are adopting Linux. Consider the fact that no one wants Longhorn. Consider the fact that Linux has no real competition for at least 2 years. Consider the fact that IBM is marketing the hell out of Linux in superbowl ads right now.
Linux is going mainstream, and it only takes a couple of years to go from number 2 to number 1. Just ask Microsoft, they did it to Apple with Windows95.
Thats the point, even the most hardcore Microsoft supporters want nothing to do with longhorn.
Linux will consume the worldwide marketshare within the next 2 years.

Outline the process step by step right here on slashdot for us newbie idiots.
Don't sell the games, sell the support. How? MMORPGs, 10 bucks a month for the game server and community.
Loki just came too soon, before linux on the desktop took off. Now Linux is on the desktop, we need to sell games. Yes people will pay for an open source MMORPG, 10 bucks a month.
Why do game companies port to Mac, but never Linux?
The cafes do charge money, they arent free.
The US is a small market. Worldwide Lineage2 is kicking Everquests ass.
Everquest sound on graphics not gameplay. Asheronscall had better gameplay. Hell even ultima online had better.

We arent talking about Mozilla 1.6, we are talking firebird. Also IEexplorer is not IE, because IE is built into the shell as well.
I've seen explorer.exe take up almost 100 megs of memory as well.
Its not even the same browser as Netscapes.
We need to use the firefox ad button on our websites. Why doesnt slashdot have a "best viewed with firefox" icon up?

I guess its time to start coding isnt it?
Thats the result of Microsofts terrible history on security. Please Mr.Gates, continue to help the Linux community thrive.
so you use MS Office 95 right? Because Office XP is very different.
Just install it for them and tell them its the new windows. You think they'll understand how to use longhorn any better?
thats not the point. IE does not compare to mozilla or even netscape.
