One of the primary reasons we (in the US) have the right to own guns is to protect ourselves from an un-just government (including our own). Because of the 2nd Amendment it is very difficult for the US governement to do anything on a very large scale that would be against the ideas and wishes of a majority of the US people.

We paid $300 for a years subscription to the City/State database (I think we'll get a disk every couple months). The CD that we received contained the zip files for all 12 of their zip code databases but you need to call a 1-800 number to get the password for the database that you purchased. There are absolutely no applications on the disk - just raw data. If you want to read the files you have to write your own app (or purchase one) that knows how to read the files. An interesting note is that I have not seen any licensing agreements concerning use of the databases - including repackaging and selling them (though I could see headaches keeping them updated). In fact for the last 10 years or so we have just been extracting the data we need from the database and distributing the resulting file for use within our software package (we had been subsribed to the service up until about 4 years ago - somebody in our company just decided it would probably be a good idea to update our data files, so we just re-subscribed).

On a side note: it was rather funny getting this package from the post office that had "WARNING - Magnetic Media - DO NOT X-RAY" stickers all over it and the only thing in it was a CD =)
