Nissan left California in 2005/2006 because we are famously expensive as a state in which to operate a business.

Ghosn (CEO of Nissan) cited lower real estate and business taxes as major reasons for the move.

This auction approach to the problem of H1B's is interesting. However, one facet you're not taking into account are people who get H1B's as a method to legally stay in the U.S. without any intention of working. I indirectly know a lot of wealthy people who are completely non-technical who pay a company to issue them an H1B visa so they can legally stay in the U.S. They don't work at all for the companies and the companies have no need for the employee, the company simply does it as a source of income. These wealthy people would inflate the auction price of H1B visas by telling their "employer" to bid as high as it takes to get the Visa since the "employee" would pay for it.

"After their sales staff insulted her in the store (only for wanting what was due)" I obviously don't know happened in this particular case, but what the above means 90% of the time is that the mother made a hissy fit and probably did things like yell loudly that she would not leave until she had cash in her hands in order to make a scene. It's the rarity for a low level employee to start insulting a customer without provocation. Usually the customer (who has the mentality that they are always right and are above the saleperson) starts cursing or making impossible demands and then the impatient employee retaliates. Best Buy is a large company. As any large company, there are going to be lots of policies and red tape. I can see reasons why they can't give you a cash refund on large purchases including increasing the possibility of abuse and employee theft. You can't expect them to operate like a mom and pop business. Simple solution is to buy with a credit card whenever possible.

You're only taking into account government foreign aid in your % of GDP analysis. Perhaps I shouldn't call it analysis since you aren't thinking or analyzing anything, just looking for another way to bash America.

In the CNN article I originally linked, you can quite clearly see that if you total US government aid as well as private organization and individual aid, America is a very giving country. If you total all those, I'd be willing to bet that America is or very near tops in charitable giving per person.

Just because America doesn't throw money at it right away doesn't mean we don't care. I'd rather see the money used wisely for maximum effect and that can take time.
