I think he just called ACID. My memory might trick me too, but I think that involved transactions. Does MySQL do them? Maybe I'm not up to date but last time I bothered with MySQL there was no transaction support.
I can't really think why anyone would prefer MySQL over Postgres anyways... (that part was just my humble opinion)
Well, I actually dug out my WinXP Laptop and gave it a shot. And know what: Yes, it's dead-boring. Certainly some interesting playground for the developers but not for the players...
It looks like a bad experimental 3d-engine with some very-limited scripting language tacked on top. Not even close to a "game". No concept, no gameplay, NOTHING. You basically just mess around with it to run into its constraints every 5 minutes. Then when you've realized how limited it is (took me about 40mins) you'll just drop it like a hot potatoe and release a big yawn cuz there's nothing left to do.
Oh yea and there's not even a linux version. (as if that poor 3d engine required any exciting directX stunts...)
Hum. I played some early pingus-demo (4 levels i think) and I didn't find it _that_ bad at all. Ofcourse it's not the original lemmings and most of the levels lacked the "Doh!"-effect of the original, but it is definately worth a look also for those who played the original lemmings back and forth.
Post-It-Side-Note: I didn't really like the original lemmings past Lemmings II. Some of the bonus packs (X-Mas Lemmings etc.) were nice. But starting with Lemmings III they put in so many new modes (and very bad ones, too, like the "Jump"-Lemming and others that depended on SplitSecondMouseclickTiming(tm)) that it ruined the great "usability" known from Lemmings I+II. In that light pingus has a really nice balance of just the right number of not-so-over-the-edge (bazooka-lemming anyone?) modes.
Another-Really-Small-Sticky-Note: One mode that's really been missing from all Lemmings-Clones I know would be the "PacMan"-mode, tho...;-)
When will they learn that their time is over and the music industry has become obsolete by evolution?
All these lawsuits against them evil "copyright violators" (which usually are just kids!) and the whole surrounding "intellectual property" bullshit makes me angry whenever I read about it.
What we have is a bunch of old men (and their fellow "youngster" managers) that became rich over the last 30 years via often critized and IMHO generally dubious practise. Just the way monopolies go. Now they begin to realize that their time has come and, worse yet, that nobody really gives a fuck about a small circle of media-millionaires failing to keep up with time and therefor going down.
So what do they do? Take three steps back, sit down, think really hard and try to come up with something new, something that makes SENSE?
No, they publicly admit their complete lack of clue and send their stinkin' lawyers...
The only positive aspect about these lawsuits is that they keep showing how clueless the RIAA-guys really are thus giving everyone faith that they will hopefully run out of $$$-fuel within some years.
And once they are out of money really no one will be listening to their crap anymore. (pun intended)
Why?

Mod parent up (Insightful). Many times...
DoubleClick does it already. Actually every half-decent ad-company does it. It's so simple, YOU can do it, too:

Shameless plug, huh?

Oops, sorry...
dd if=/dev/hdax bs=10M | split -b 1999m img`date +%y%m%d%H%M%S`.
That one _really_ works now.
dd if=/dev/hdax bs=10M | split -b 1999m img`date`.
works ok for me.
Gimme the money, I'll buy the zaurus and make linux strong!
Well, if they only made a linux-version, I'd definately give it a shot...
I'm curious if they could actually make worms "work" in 3d. Lemmings3d was so awful, I didn't even bother to finish level 1. (Playtime: ~45 minutes)
Hum.

Somehow I doubt you really are a "SSL developer".
I think you should have put "As an Anonymous Coward" in the subject instead.
