I used to drink nearly a 12-pack of Dr. Pepper per day. One day, I decided the addiction wasn't benefiting me, so I just quit. Keep headache medicine on standby, and get ready to feel more rested when you wake up in the morning.
There is a serious research project in progress which trying to get to the bottom of this mystery. If you can look past the occasional conspiracy-theorist-kook, there are actually quite a few thoughtful and intelligent folks participating. Here is the discussion thread for the project:
This particular feature was actually the most interesting part of this article which was posted on slashdot a while back:

It looks like IBM really did reinvent email. Their product might not be the one to do it, but they certainly got the idea out there before anyone else
So, let me get this straight. Based upon an article about an isolated instance or two of someone jacking into another person's I-pod, you're willing to accept that this "phenomenon" would have a broader effect at bringing people closer together than a feature like bluetooth broadcasting? Give me a break... Think about it.
Lets say you were actively broadcasting your music. In a way, you're making yourself available for others to start conversations with... Lets say someone else who is walking around listening for bluetooth broadcasts LOVES the song you're listening to. What you would have with this situation is a very high potential for a connection between two people who might not otherwise consider communicating with each other.
Two people who see each other with i-pods in public, though? You can bet they aren't going to jack into each other unless at-least one of them is an extremely extroverted person...in which case they probably meet new people all the time anyway...big deal.
Judgemental idiots? What did you just do? What makes you think that you know why he wouldn't date a woman who listenes to country music, exclusively? I'll answer for you: You don't know. You snapped to judgement, much like an idiot might do.
Maybe he wouldn't date a woman who listens to country music exclusively because music is a very important part of his life and dating someone who he couldn't share that with doesn't appeal to him.

Note: Some of the other research projects are pretty interesting, also. In particular, the Yellowstone Super-Caldera Research Project.

Looks like they're packing usenet-client-style features into an email client. About time....
