doesn't it make sense? lower paying jobs = easier to replace with even cheaper labor, leaving the jobs that require more qualifications available to the college graduate.

i'm sorry, i don't come to that conclusion from this author or from being a product of said education system.
i agree with the point that our education systems main proirity is to teach us how to work for other people and not how to do things ourselves and that that is something that cannot be changed with the current way we do things.
being more or less religious/political/patriotic doesn't necessarily make us less complacent and easy to control, when the whole school system is structured to make us that way.
if you're using your linux machine as a gateway then you'll definitely run into a bottleneck at the pci bus for starters. which happens to be the no. 1 reason why hardware gigabit switches are so expensive, since they switch at a hardware level (hence faster) instead of software
are you sure he (bush) wants to deny gay people legal rights or just the term 'marriage' (which happens to bestow on the married couple some important rights)? i'm not positive if the word has been defined by our laws, but certainly from a christian viewpoint marriage is a union of a man to a woman. so by having our supposedly religous president say something like gay marriages shouldn't be allowed is different from saying something like gay partners should have no legal rights whatsover...
besides being a short article, it also fails to differentiate between an american expresso and what you would get if you ordered an expresso in italy. the american resembling the picture in the article and the italian looking more like some brown fluid in a shot glass...
