I'm currently on the play test team with Jeff T. in Gary's current works (Castle Zagyg). Gary was was the Progenitor of all modern gaming. Imagine a world that did not have D&D. Computer games would not have developed in the way they have, they would be 3d versions of Chess etc. Gary's work, and the work of the people that have followed have entertained us for decades, and through Gary's work we will be entertained for decades and centuries more...
Bob H.
I bought my PS3 for the Blue ray player, and the 15 movies that came with it on the sale at Walmart just after Thanksgiving. Or at least that's what I told my wife we were buying it for. Now that I have her into Guitar Hero I can barely get on it...
As shown the guy removed the Apple dirver and went with a third party driver. Clearly if you have access to the machine you can hack into it easily. Hell with access to the box I can root in about 30 seconds (enough time to reboot and load the MacOSX disk).
I do believe he was commenting on the fact that the Mac BOOK Pro was the fastest windows laptop for over a month, because the Mac BOOK Pro and Apple had access to the Core Duo chips months before all other vendors. you should read the thread a bit before you make such strong comments.
You are correct that the Xeon is available on PCs, however as noted further up the thread the Apple machine may be a little faster at the get go because it will be a clean install. No bloat will have been installed by the vendors etc.
As you can tell from my sig, I'm a Mac user, and will likely be one for a long time. I converted in College after I found myself trying to "fix" my windows machine all the time and never getting any work done.
Actually I had a copy up and running on a machine at my work at MIT. I will tell you now that hey did not drop it for your reason. Intel made them drop it. Problem was that PPC NT ran SO much faster than on intel hardware that they figured it would put the Intel chips out of business.
You may not use it openly for for browsing the internet, but it is so embedded into the OS that it cannot be removed (just double click on your "my computer" icon and it is IE that browses the hard drive). Don't you remember the browser wars? this was Micro$ofts way of making sure their browser is installed into the OS no matter what.
According to my former roomate, You had it good. He is a flight nurse with the Air Reserve and he only got the Dam Revolver!!! I told him, one of my friends is a survivalist nut, and I could have sent him some hardware and some better armor if he just asked. He came back in July (2 months after his unit commanders came back, yes he was forgotten). But now he has just been told he is going to Volenteer to go back (which he does not want to do, of course). Maybe I'll be sending over a care package anyway...
Bob
I did the same thing with the Blue Cathodes (but I included a 4" in the top above the Superdrive, to fill the entire front with the "glow"), but how did you make the side pannel? I Was going to try to make one out of Lexan at one point, but havn't had the chance. and I don't want to chop up the side that came with it incase I have to send it out on warenty repair..
Bob
I checked with my buddy, it was a 2.8 P4, not a 3 gig, and tell me how can the human eye percieve much more that 80+ frames per second. We did not benchmark them, Ran faster, and Looked better are perceptions alone, you insensitive clod...
Well coward, I see we still can't read... You keep saying AMD products, I have only talked about INTEL crap... Like I said before read before you spout drivel!
Yes I bring it to LAN parties, and the first reactions I get are usually "you can use a Mac to play...", I didn't know Macs could Play with PeeCees","WOW, Nice screen, Wait is that a Mac?", and my favorite " Wow, can I try?"
1, I stated that I didn't buy it just for gaming, so please read the post before spouting your shit all over the place...
2. Well, you must not have been standing behind me when I was on my 7 month old Dual G5 running UT2K4 Demo earlier this spring next to my friends 1 year old $4,000 dollar Alienware intel box. Keeping up easily with it. (I think he said it was a 3gig w/ a gig of ram running the screen 1600x1200 which was his max resolution, mine being 1920x1200 on the 23")
As Far as AMD, I like their stuff and I'm considering building one just for the fun of it to play the game of the minute, which are the games that everyone on the PC seem to be playing one minute and then the next best thing comes out and they dump the 1 month old game to play the new ones. Those games will likely never come to the Mac platform. For example, Halo, it came out for Mac, and it had already been old in the PC comunity so Noone bothers to play it. I assume that will be what happens to Call of Duty, now that it is out for Mac, and Battle Field 1942 will be out in 2 weeks, so I figure the minute game for the PC should be out shortly after I get it...
BTW Coward, Why don't you post under your login? are you scared you will be pointed out as nothing but Flame baiting Troll?
You sold out for the almighty dollar when you sold your rights to the "new Owners" of your site, and Now you want to bitch about the Owners selling out to Micro$oft...
Get off your high horse, you sold out first don't blame them for selling out for more money than you recieved...
My machine was not purchaced "only" for games, however with that said, I use it for them and bring it to LAN parties (http://www.maxfrag.com). I paid just over 3300 for the Box, plus another 2K just for the 23" screen.
BTW> it's a Mac Dual 2Gig processor G5, 3.5 gigs ram, 250gig SATA drive, with a 23" High Definition LCD display. It plays every game that has made for or been ported to the Mac platform faster and better looking than any of the PCs it has been side by side with, and that includes some of the Ultra high end Alienware stuff...
Soon someone will come up with a hack for the Apple IPod that will let a firewire camera (like the Apple iSight) dump it's content steam to the iPod. I think it would just be a matter of time, and with the iSight the thing is small enough to hide up the sleve of a long shirt and would be virtually undetectable short of standing infront of the person and looking down the sleave in question.
I didn't know that, Thank you for pointing it out. I thought I was going to have to do it the very hard way and manually install the files into UT2004.app myself.
I've never noticed the Permisions/provileges probelems that you talk about. I have both my Fiance' and my self as users (I'm admin, she is normal user). I also have root enabled for when I really want to mess with the system...
I Have never noticed any "spyware" apps run on my system, and I'd now, as I'm a network engineer that monitors for things like that...
I also am forced into using XP pro (at work for the Feds). I'm amazed at how much like OSX even XP is. Even one of the user icons is exactly the same (the rubber duck). At home i have a Dual 2gig G5 with a 23"HD LCD, at work I have a 3.2 gig P4. In at least my observations the G5 os "seems" a lot faster and Much Much smoother. I'm dying to see what more the evil empire duplicates from Apple in Longhorn.
From what I have read over time, the MBU of M$ is the most UN-windows group there is. Though if my understanding of Patent law, wich I fully admit is very very small, Apple would have to fight all infringments of it's patents with all companies that choose to utilize them. I would think that Apple would be able to negoiatiate a resonable settlement exclusively for the MBU of M$, without opening it entirely for the blanket infringment that Longhorn will I'm sure partake in...
The funeral will be private, with onlya select group of friends...

And isn't Podcast an Apple invention? Could have sworn they were the ones that created the name anyway.

BobApple Corp. = Former seller of Music, Hasn't sold anything in years Apple computer = Company that has a large bank account that Apple Corp wants...
It is not as though we didn't know that most MacroSloth windows experts SUCK at security any way...
That was My same perception, and that is the perception that killed it for the non-Intel platform...
Actually I had a copy up and running on a machine at my work at MIT. I will tell you now that hey did not drop it for your reason. Intel made them drop it. Problem was that PPC NT ran SO much faster than on intel hardware that they figured it would put the Intel chips out of business.
Every copy of windows since 98 MUST USE IE!!!!

I'll have to look into the replacement panel and then I'll mod the one I have. How much did they say it was?
