Hmm...maybe the AC has an account after all, and got some mod points. I'd like to point out to the moderator that none of the AC posts that were actually name calling and such were NOT modded down. Wonder why...
I'm pretty certain you are directing your comments to me. If you are, then you should go back to the beginning of this thread and read it, but i think you'll find that you and I are arguing basically the same point.
I was arguing in favor of opinion that the test of SQL7 on NT vs 2K was valid, which you would seem to agree with when you meantion 'protecting your investment.'
You'd also notice if you read the entire thread that i have consistantly asked for the ACs to back up their reasoning, which they have yet to do. All they have done so far is name calling. Which is why i said they (or maybe just he) added nothing and told them to fuck off.
But please, reread the thread, and see who has been doing the pointless name calling and adding nothing.
I understand the concept of optimization you twit. If anything you and MS don't; people are going to want to run SQL7 on Win2k, and they'll expect it to be faster. Your suggested 'benchmark' proves nothing.
Wow, 3D graphics are faster on my P4 700 + Voodoo3 then on my 486 25 with an ISA video card. No shit!
Do you understand the concept of testing ONE and only ONE thing at a time? That in an experiment you only change one thing at a time?
You have yet to present one reason why. If the OS is better at scheduling or whatever, it should be faster. You just spout of things without even any reasons.
Why is that a bad test? If Win2k is really faster and whatnot then NT, shouldn't the SAME product run faster? What the hell would your test prove? How do i know if its SQL7 or 2000 thats faster, or if its the OS? Your test proves nothing.
Doubtful. The RIAA said that napster must be given a list of FILENAMES to block. I doubt they can conceieve every possible filename to block. And i don't think the courts would go as far as to let the RIAA say they must block all files with Metallica in the title. I should be allowed to share a song called 'I hate Metallica.'
I'm going to tell you how to parent, because I think I do a pretty good job.
Ya of course you do, every parent thinks that...so what?
In fact, i disagree with some of the points you make. My parents didn't follow your plan at all really; yet they are good parents. What makes a parent good is 1) how the kid feels about them when all is said and done and 2) how well the kid fitted into society (ie, did they become a serial killer or not).
the problem is you seem to assume that all kids that play violent video games and watch R rated movies and listen to 'explicit lyrics' turn into sex crazed killers. HOwerver that is a large body of evidence that proves otherwise. Just about every in my HS did those things, and none have become psychopaths. I suspect the same can be said for all of america (since most school kids dont go around shooting people).
You obviously forget being a kid. Sometimes they just don't listen; i know i didn't always, even if given good reasons. As far as gaining access from a friend; ya thats possible, but its also possible to not let the kid over the friends house, or to talk to the friends parents. At least see if they have a filter set.
From what i understand, it allows users (usually parents) to set a certain rating level for content that can be viewed (in this case played) on the device. For example, if i set my tv's v-chip to TV-14, shows rated higher will be blocked by the tv, unless a passcode is entered, i assume.
I don't see how that allows developers any advantage..
Why is this a bad idea? It puts the task of filter where it belongs; on the parents shoulders. Ultimately, parents should be the only ones that decide wether their kids get to see gore/sex.
Now, the idea of sheltering your kids is an entirely different one.
Then what font is trademarked for the movie title? The sole (not soul...) way to identify a game is by its title also. Blizzard wasn't planning on releasing a movie at the same time New Line was.
Besides, none of that gets around the fact that you yourself admit a trademark must be the word PLUS some kind of style in writing the word. Since diablo is a common word (i knew what it meant even before the game..), the style should be taken into account.
I call it X or X Windows, just like my friends and professors. No i don't wonder why; its been around before the MS version, and i don't think MS would have a legal leg to stand on if they pursuded the matter.
Yup. I don't see how anyone could stop you from saying that your program is for windows, or for Microsoft Windows for that matter. Just as i doubt people that make autoshades need to get permission to say it works with the certain makes/models of cars. Now using the windows logo is another matter.
Trademarking a movie title is idiotic though. Besides, what about movies thta have the same names already, yet having nothing to do with one another (ever see the year next to a movie title?).
Also please explain how calling me an idiot and goatfucker is NOT flamebait.

And still the anonymous people have nothing to say...
I don't care if you agree or not. You have added nothing, fuck off.
Ok, but MS says win2k will run things faster then NT. Duh.

You're right, you don't know you're place.
Yes, but that would not be true. However, you may say it all you like.
So tell me, why shouldn't the same software run faster on the new 'faster' OS?
Nevermind, i know you won't answer, you're just some lame anonymous fuck.

Why? I mean, they took all they learned in NT4 and used it in making Win2k right?
Besides, no one would run without the service packs. I might as well run my car with a broken transmition...
I did the same, but i (and others) also did stuff b/c we thought our parents wrong, even though they explained the reason.

It is not parenting...but it is a part of it. I hope you didn't mean thats all there was to parenting...
Do you even know what a v-chip does?
From what i understand, it allows users (usually parents) to set a certain rating level for content that can be viewed (in this case played) on the device. For example, if i set my tv's v-chip to TV-14, shows rated higher will be blocked by the tv, unless a passcode is entered, i assume.

But i think this is better then the gov't trying to regulate away games they don't like.

Go away....
and if you haven't noticed, you're the only AC on this thread...

Heh...best laugh i had all day.
oh no no no...its Microsoft Windows(tm), not just windows. Otherwise X Windows might be in trouble.
