Impossible, since more than half of the US population is not healthy. Look closely, their are defining someone as healthy even though they are actually obese (i.e., not healthy). Of course everything become clear when you understand that obese people have a higher risk of infection and complications if they do get the flu.
Also, in 1918, conditions were NOT nearly as sanitary as they are now. If you don't think that plays a role, then why is everyone saying the best way to prevent infection is to avoid people sneezing on you and washing your hands?
I'm not sure its a big deal; how do you know those kids wouldn't have died of seasonal flu? How do you know the death rate won't plummit in the following weeks and we end up with about the same amount of deaths?
Where the fuck do you get your information? I remember a time BEFORE there was a flu vaccine (which, BTW, happens to be pre-2002), and people were not dying by the hundreds of thousands.
Oh, and here's the other problem with your flu vaccine; almost NOBODY dies of the flu, they die of complications, the most common being pneumonia, for which we have treatment.
There is also no legal reason he has to perform ANY marriage. Ever.
Yes, there is, its part of his job.
He may be a racist bigot, but at least he stands on his own principles.
What fucking nonsense is this? Standing by his bigotry isn't something to be admired.
To bring this more on-topic: if I were a JotP, I would refuse to perform marriages for gay couples. I don't believe the State need recognize any rights for a union that cannot create a biological family, even in theory. (I know that not all heterosexual couples can or even want to have children, but the law is not about individual cases.)
Of course you think this way; you're a racist bigot. How is your point of view any different from Nazism?
How would it destroy marriage, since for them marriage is something given from god? The fact that the state doesn't care anymore doesn't magically take away something granted from god.
Sure it does. The government can verify the list themselves. Using the last voter registration records would be enough. Even if the list is bogus, does it matter? People still then have to actually vote on the referendum to acomplish anything.
Why does everybody bring up the $100 wireless dongle for the 360?
B/c $100 is WAY too much money for a simple wireless card?
Someone invited something called a cable a long time ago, it links items together, it even comes with the damn thing. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has the xbox very near the TV, which is also where my cable connection comes into the house, which is next to my damn modem/router. I don't need wireless when the router is sitting 2 feet from the system. Wireless is not the only why to access the internet, despite what starbucks tells you..
I'm sure you're not the only person, no. But there are likely many for whom this ins't true, or perhaps they have their game systems elsewhere besides the living room (assuming cable even comes in from the living room). While its not the only way to access the internet, its far more convient than trying to run cables everywhere. So unlike your perception that people are simply too stupid to use wires, many people chose NOT to use wires, and for them its offensive that a $20 item is being priced at $100.
The system is not required to be online, so online connectivity/wi-fi is a null point.
However being online is one of the great values of BOTH systems. So its not a null point, dispite your claims otherwise.
Blu-Ray, ok, point there. Then again, if you do have your system networked in any way, it can most likely stream from your computer, which can store the HD content, so Blu-Ray gets nulled out.
No, bluray continues to have a point in its favor, because its now the standard for HD disc based content, which many of us also still prefer. I can easily bring my BD to someone elses house and play it, and I don't need the hastle of setting up a media server. Even without a media server, its very useful to be online to purchase games, play them online, or use the web browsers built into both consoles.
Live has a fee of $55 a year, A YEAR, people with a $200-300 system that has new games costing $60, should not be allowed to bitch about a low cost fee that charged YEARLY. That's what, 3 outings to McD's for a family of 4, a weeks worth of starbucks every morning, or a night to the bar? Gaming is a hobby, hobbies incur cost. Check with a female family member about the cost of gardening or knitting or scrap booking, then complain about a one time a year fee that's fairly cheap.
That $55 / year is on top of all those other costs, and many people don't feel like they should have to pay $55 for the privledge of buying games online as well, or playing games already paid for. This is a hold over from PC gaming... gamers expect the online servers to be included in the price of the game, not pay for them seperately. The costs of other hobbies are irrelevent, but nice try at a strawman.
Really, the only winning point the PS3 has over 360 as a user cost standpoint is the ability to pop in just about any HD, which is a very nice point, which would be the only relevent point to the whole thread.
Oh and the free online play. Oh and the fact that it plays bluray movies. Oh and the fact that wireless is built in and thus very convient to use for web browsing, updating the system, oh and did I mention using that free online play?
A better question would be "Why shouldn't you be able to create a car that locks out 3rd-party replacement parts and upgrades?"
Because it limits consumer choice and drives prices. What benefit is there to me the consumer being forced to pay three times the amount for a part I could have gotten cheaper from a 3rd party?
Not really. Everyone I knew had to do voodoo to get the NES to play. Blowing on the cart wasn't enough, you also had to put it in in just the right way.
Well yes, I had to do that... after about six years of very heavy use (I pretty much played the NES everday).
Everyone I knew with a PS1 eventually had to run it upside down to prevent disk read errors.
That's the first time I've ever heard that claim. Of course, my last console prior to the Wii, PS3 and PSP was a SNES, but I knew plenty of people with PS1s.
I think you have a ways to go though before intimidation or especially violenc gets called up for use. I don't think we've quite reached that level.
Personally I think I have great way to solve this problem; eliminate completely the concept of legal marriage. Its not needed, and the issue is causing us to waste time better spent on other work. Make it a purely religous or spiritial cermemony, that means nothing legally.
I don't think the names should be released, although I do support gay marrage. The reason is the same as the reasoning behind secret ballots when voting for candidate; you're denying people the right to persue referenedums because what whatever notion is popular of the day (or, the person in power has police to "monitor" those that oppose them).
It really doesn't matter who signed it; there were enough signatures to put the measure up and that's all that matters. The gay rights group are hoping to use intimidation and shame to get their way, and that does not sit well with me.
If its not easy to figure out how to configure, its more than a documentation problem. I fail to see why anyone should be "getting involved upstream." It should be simple enough to figure out on its own.
You say its unfair to blame PA for problems, but most of those problems WERE NOT THERE prior to PA. I say its totally fair to blame PA.
Interesting... while so many distros got sound right prior to PA, they all mostly now have a problem with PA in the mix. If all of your users are doing things the wrong way with your application, its probably your application that's at fault.
And, finally, Linux IS ready for the desktop. It's PEOPLE who are not ready for the desktop. Everyone who says that Linux isn't ready for the desktop should get a clue - millions of people with an IQ over 90 are already using Linux on the desktop. Those other millions with IQ's of less than 90 will never be ready for the desktop - so Microsoft is there to hold their hands, and make them feel good.
Believe it or not, there is very good software like Final Cut Pro that is not cross platform.
So good I never heard of it before. And it might be "very good" but it needs to be quite a bit better than anything available on Windows for one program to justify buying a Mac.
Another example that more here might be immediately familiar with is WoW. WoW isn't Mac only, but it does have some really nice options that are (like the built-in video recording/compression along with the fact it's able to easily hide cursors and UI from the video without hiding it in-game).
Wow, sold me!
Not to mention I prefer to code on the Mac (Cocoa is fun), and having a Unix OS that is extremely usable is great (can't get that with Windows).
Now you're really going niche, and I personally don't care about having a unix os. I can do that with Linux. Oh right you said usable... tell me why again I care about having a unix os on my desktop?
There are indeed things unique to only Windows or Macs. Not often, but they're there. Buying a Mac is cheaper than buying hardware for both platforms.
But going PC and Windows is the cheapest option that allows people to do most everything they want. Your own examples show that.
The virus has a protenaceous coat that is more resistant to the outer-body environment, especially in colder seasons, and is easily transmitted.
Huh... and yet is killed with exposure to sunlight.
On the contrary, Mumps, Measles, and Rubella are nearly wiped out world wide; as a result of this, very few infections occur and people are rarely in contact with any potential mutated outcome, though that is possible. Quite possibly the transmission potentials and infection potentials are lower as well.
Hrm, interesting claim, since it seems the flu shot appeared less than a decade ago.
Impossible, since more than half of the US population is not healthy. Look closely, their are defining someone as healthy even though they are actually obese (i.e., not healthy). You don't however surrender the liberty to keep others from forcibly injecting you with something against your wishes.
Oh, and more more thing... total deaths from swine flu are ~4,000 WORLDWIDE. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic
There is also no legal reason he has to perform ANY marriage. Ever.

Or perhaps the process is processing the update list, which is what it is doing.

No, if you buy a downloadable game, its not backed up at all, but you will always be able to redownload it from you PSN account.
Which is totally unnessary. There was no legal reason for him to make extra work for them, and his "think of the children" bullshit is just that.

Yet the flu continues unabated. And then we have this: http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/10/17/1651206
I'd like to know, where is the double-blink placebo study that shows the flu vaccine is effective? Care to point it out to me?
No, the article said its about people 65 and older. It then goes on to say we should do an actual study to see if this same data shows up.
