I posted b/c i think MOST people would. For the record idiot, NO ONE IS GOING TO BUY A CD THAT DOESN'T SUIT THIER PERSON TASTE! You need to beat your head on a brick for a while, i think that will fix your personality problem.
If i liked the artist, and could get a cd direct from them for $8, i would pay, because i'd want to hear more from that artist. Besides, if napster DOES promote CD sales as they claimed, shouldn't it also support the small artist's CD sales? That would make sense to me, but honestly, i would have no problem buying a cd from the artist instead of a label if it a) is cheaper (8 shounds good to me, hell even 10) and b) the artist got MOST of the money in that sale. I don't really care about the cover art, posters etc etc. Isn't that more of a teenage thing anyway? I would care about seeing the band live though.
Nope, but then fortran as a language is not being developed anymore (at least not that i'm aware of). Unix/Linux is most certinaly continuing development. There was not Video for Linux even just a few years ago, but today there is (at least the beginnings of it). Its kinda like classic cars; most of them are junked now, but some are still in good running condition. I bet some even have more modern engines (but then, i'm not a classic car kinda person, so i don't kow if thats done). Hopefully now you'll see my point; if not, we should be junking Windows soon, since thats getting arouind 10 years old.
Although i'd have to argue w/some of your point. If you got shot b/c you didn't put up some protection WHEN YOU KNEW YOU WERE IN VERY DANGEROUS TERRITORY, then i'd have to place at least some of the blame on you. If your neighborhood has a high crime rate, i think you'd lock you door, right? Well the internet is a VERY hostile enviroment to be in, so yes you do take some of the blame if you have lax countermeasures.
that are much more palatable to society at large than vandalism and badass acting, which are generally frowned upon.
Really? Look at just about any movie (esp action). The 'hero' most of the time will blowup/kill etc all the bad guys etc, with no reguard for little else. It doesn't matter that the car with the bad guy in it that you just blew up goes crashing into the department store, making that blow up as well. The bad guy is dead. Just look at T2; the terminator was a black leather biker look, and he was the hero. Yet he seemed pretty bad ass to me.
Oh, you mean just like what happened in the telecom industry after AT&T was broken up? They just picked another company to blame? Tell me, who are they blaming today?
I'll have my cs degree very shorty, and i use linux. Linux (and even unix for that matter) is not the same as it was 11 years ago. Just b/c somethings old doesn't mean its worthless and must be throw away. Ever stop to think there's a reason its been around for 30 some years?
Actually, i had a professor that opted out. His cookie 'mystriously' would change to an opt in every now and then. He wasn't deleting cookies or anything either, it would just change. It seems they sometimes don't honor the opt out...
Well unfortunatly there aren't alot of free ssh implementations out there for windows (which most kids use). Telnet comes with the system, so its easier for them to get people to use it. I would love to just use ssh, but the only windows ssh client i know of costs $100; not many college students want to shell that out.

On the other hand, i think he is taking the human element into consideration. Most of the greatest technology advances were either created to destroy/harm people, or were adapted to that purpose shortly after. Just look at all the cool new stuff designed during WW2, which were good tech advances, but as soon as we understood it, it was unleased to kill more people then we ever killed before. As far as that creationist crap; i hate to break it to you, but 95% of people in the US only pay lip service to that stuff, very few actually practice what they preach.

It sounds to me like you think life is something that is ownable. YOUR kids. YOUR choice. Ever stop to think that there is something greater in this world? I think the previous poster was trying to put out that ALOT of people, not just you, would choose the 'perfect' child setup. It was not Hitler alone trying to create a master race, he had alot of volentiers to help him. Your actions in combination with the actions of other people like you, would create a 'master race.' While you won't be directly cooperating on that goal, you will still achive it.
Do i expect i should be careful when handling something i KNOW is hot? How hot it was is irrelevent; she spilled it herself, with no help from anyone. Its nice to know that i can get compensated whenever i am careless or clumbsy.
Thankfully, i think that is changing. If i remember correctly in NY you can or will be able to pick your local carrier as well. Monopolies suck, just look at the cable industry. I had a 100/month cable bill, and i didn't really have many services. Std cable and a cable modem.
The reason you keep hearing it is b/c they were pretty smart people. The Constitution is a well thought out document, things were not placed in there just for the hell of it. The heart of the matter never changes; the fact that people have certain rights which cannot be infrindged(sp?) upon. We have lots of rights not spelled out, but the bill of rights lists 10 of the most important restrictions on the gov't. I hate when people say 'oh that part is obsolete.' Like your average joe has any clue what he is talking about. The Framers where highly intelligent people; they invented the light bulb, telephone and other things. They also understood that there needs to be a buffer between what the people want (who are often rash, impacient, want 'the quick fix', and don't put any thought into the consequences of such fixes) and what actually gets done. So before you continue bashing them, please remember that they are the reason that this has become the greatest country there is. No, its not perfect, but imperfect beings cannot create perfection. And while its not perfect, it has done, and is doing, a pretty damn good job.
God it terrifies me to think about that. Regular people passing laws? Ugh. I think you caught just about everyone with the 'other moronic types' phrase. Most people are stupid and not educated/well thought out enough to be involved in law making. I'm not trolling; even the Framers agreed. Thats why we have an electoral vote instead of a direct vote. Don't belive me? Ask your HS social studies teacher.
Well the article clearly meantioned stopping file transfers ON PRIVATE NETWORKS. So they care, dumbass. And the other poster is right too; thats what the internet is, a bunch of private networks linked together.
The risk (of the whole thing being invalidated) may be small, but the potential damage is very large.
As a copyright holder, you can un GPL your code (you own the copywrite, and may change the license of that copywrite any time you want). So they can patch or make a new GPL, and switch

You're right, children shouldn't have any rights whatsoever.

Since i never bought an MS product, and i don't own stock, am employed, an an alumni of or partner of, MS i guess i can't join. Darn.
