That aside, I don't see how any government can possibly take light pollution seriously. Too much investment to satisfy too small a group - who cares if it's world heritage.

Its actually safer for people walking (no light means there are no shadows a criminal could hide in) and less light means lower energy costs.

We have a 50MPH highway, 4 lane for some parts, 2 for others, which is about five miles long. To save money, the city is trying to turn off most of the lights along the route (the whole thing used to be lit). It hasn't seemed to cause any more problems than there already were, and I imagine it's saving quite a bit of money.

It also makes sense... but until there's been some study either way, we're both just speculating, which is fairly useless.

Ya, exactly. You're in an exteremely poor place to make any kind of conclusion... you ONLY see the people that broke their phone. Um, I really don't give a fuck what you SEE. Believe what you want, I don't care, and just because you see something different doesn't mean I'm an anomaly. It means you see what you want to see.

There's a reason there are several thousand of each current revision of portable game system that are destroyed by poor care (broken in half, smashed to bits, scratched to the point of lunacy) on eBay at any given time. Then imagine how many were under warranty and were returned.

Again, thanks for your observation... but it's meaningless.

The only way that would work is if everyone could be managers, but the FACT is that a manager can't do much without less paid people to manage.

And yet even in my company, everyone has the chance to buy healthcare, even the people at the bottom of the ladder. So maybe your guy from your previous example should think about that before accepting a job.

The mantra "people should work more to get better jobs" is plain stupid, 'cause it says that if everyone worked hard, no-one would work as a cashier, or constructions, etc.

Fine. Then you choose to go without. BTW, your claim is stupid, because we have exactly that situation now. People working as cashiers, and don't have insurance.

At the end of the day though, I don't really care. All I care about is healthcare for me and my family. Everyone else is on their own. I don't see why it should be my problem that someone else doesn't have insurance.

The only justification for socializing healthcare is so that I can foot the bill for someone that isn't working at all or has no drive to work up the ladder. I know someone, for example, works and doesn't have healthcare. To get it, she'd have to work up to being a manager at her store... but she doesn't want to.
