you should have been less carefull and have made sure that he fired you. that way you'd have had a other, better job AND you old boss would have had to pay several months for sacking you.
I don't know which study you claim to have read from Dr. Giovannucci since no link to it was posted. However when I did find this site stating:
While acknowledging the dangers of the sun-related skin cancer melanoma that killed some 8,000 Americans last year, Giovannucci convincingly argued staying away from the sun -- preventing your body from making enough vitamin D on its own -- may add as much as 70 more cancer deaths per 100,000 people each year.
There are several other articles about the subject. And several scientists seem to agree that sun is one of the best delivery mechanisms for Vitamin D. Keeping in mind that, as with most things, you shouldn't over do it.
The study found that Vitamin D can be beneficial for treating cancers but said absolutely nothing about the delivery mechanism. Getting your Vitamin D directly from the sun also means you get wonderful melanomas via UVA and UVB radiation.
Yes it does, melanomas are mentioned 2 times on the 3 page maybe you should RTFA first.
I love reading stories like this. I also love it when a small company has a retarded patent on something so they can sue the shit out of every big company (Microsoft, HP, Apple,...) The more people start pulling stunts like this and making it impossible for others to say, do, create anything, the sooner people will realize that the current patent en trademark laws need a revision.
I'm hoping someone gets a patent on electricity and trademark on every vowel by tomorrow.
Since when is watching tv a social thing. When my girlfriend and I are watching tv the only thing we say to each other is "STFU I'm trying to watch this."
As usual there are some people who have to keep repeating the same stupid idea's. Frames CAN be useful e.g. I made a management module a while ago with a javascript tree. If frames didn't exist that would mean the tree would have to be regenerated every time you click on an item. Without frames the app would have been slower and would have used a lot more resources.
Frames (iframes especially) are a great way to create a very dynamic web application without having to reload the whole page and waste bandwidth, processor time,...
Or how did you think Gmail checked for new messages every $blah seconds. Other great examples of the use of frames are w3chools' tryit-editor or realtime previews of html used in CMSystems such as mambo
Like most people I greatly dislike websites that use frames form navigation menu etc. However just because something is often misused that doesn't mean we should ditch it altogether (no matter what Jacob fucking Nielsen says).
I agree with you there, nothing will change. The worth of any item is the amount of money that someone is willing to pay for it. e.g. a painting by Van Gogh is worth millions even though it's just paint and cloth and nowadays it would be easy to make an exact replica that is just as pretty.
Even if all diamond prices would drop, this wouldn't save us any money when we buy presents. Our girlfriends and wives would demand something else that is bloody expensive and probably kick our asses if even considered giving jewelry made with something as cheap as diamond.
The only thing I am excited about is how mass-produced diamond will change our lives for ever.
Use the power to pump water uphill and store it in a reservoir or heat a large amount of water. There are plenty of ways to store large amounts of electricity.
That isn't actually storing electricity, storing electricity would mean that you keep the electricity you have. What you describe is using electricity, that would normally go to waste, to create new gravitational potential energy. This energy in turn can be used to generate new electricity at an other time.

Perhaps they are just talking about plain text data so no images, binaries ...
