The world needs more people who will champion just causes, I believe this is one of them. I am lucky enough to live in a country where there are problems, but none bad enough that it needs such a champion (yet).
Personally I have never read anything about people getting forced euthanasia and personally I am happy that I have the choice of euthanasia if I should ever be in a situation that is so bleak that there is no way out, like a terminal illness.
It looks freaking awesome:D If you connect it to a PC's USB port, will the PC recognise it? If so, will it piggyback the network connection? Or can just connect it to a USB phone charger or USB hub?
It's like training your dog, if it poos in the house, you discipline it, you don't throw it out. And for people like me who have a big catalogue of games for the PS3 don't want to throw them out.
Or they already have a great product they support, like blackberries or something like that. A homogenous environment is way easier to support as well.
Do not attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity (or arrogance). The poster seems like a guy who wanted to add to his organisation but didn't comprehend anything beyond his homegrown knowledge of servers, etc. So he was surprised at the (in my opinion too mild) reaction of the IT dept. If the doc is good at his job, great let him do that, but don't allow him to interfere with the "bits going down there wire", he wouldn't trust you to do surgery would he?
A 1 year application process is insane of course, but if any of our teachers would do what you did without our permission, they would be in deep deep doo doo and probably get fired. The network, the infrastructure, all of it is our responsibility and if it fails, our heads will roll and rightfully so, but not if others had their hands in our cookiejar. We do our best to keep everything running as smoothly and efficiently as possible and we work our asses off to do it. Then again, I guess you didn't ever work with us and I can't judge on the places you've been.
Sorry dave, but I respectfully disagree. I have a few bucks in change in my wallet right now and I live in the Netherlands where we do pay most things with our bank cards.
