Hyperbole much? Who is this *everyone*? I have not seen any claims of "so secure". At least not from the people who actually actively contribute. The claims I have seen are something like "it's open so it can be looked by anybody who knows". That just implies that if there is a security problem, there are better chances that they would be known compared to proprietary code.

It's a different matter that some OSS programs are more secure than their closed counterparts. IIS was known to have several issues a while back, while Apache had better track record - that's a proven fact. Nobody ever claimed Apache was the bestest securest evaaar evaar!

    Two things:
    1. Al-Jazeera, if you remove your yellow glasses, is actually a very high caliber new organization, unlike most of anything you find in the US. Of course, they belong to a different country, different culture and difference environment, and may not speak your language so to speak, but that does not mean they are not good. Do some research for once for fuck sake. To help you, start with the excellent documentary "Control Room". And don't even try to compare it with CNN.

    2. Even if one assumes AJ is bias, if the document they release prove to be correct, how does that take away the truth in any form?

And if you go beyond the Apple hype, you would see that by being in control of what goes in the app store, Apple is responsible too to make sure this does not happen. If they are not doing it(as you are claiming), then the only thing I can think of is they are just controlling what kind of apps go in there - and hence enforcing their moral judgement onto their users - similar to what they have done so many times on the iphone app store. Hence my original remarks (about keeping porn out).

    Hope this gets to you.

Yes, I am ignoring every third-party 'satisfaction surveys' - not only for Apple, but for everything. They are basically flawed because they are nothing but post-purchase syndrome where human minds tend to approve of things they have already invested heavily in.

For the same reason, when I do my research, I go to various forums and look for negative reviews. They are much more insightful then the OMG! BEST PRODUCT EVAAR!! ones.
