What's interesting is the fact that even after this and other numerous problems with this particular device, majority of the post (on/., Engadget, Apple forums etc) about them would include something like "I love the phont, but..."
What's wrong with you? How would you "love" your phone if you can't use it for its primary purpose? Is it mandatory to "love" this phone? Would you burn in hell if you don't? Or most of the people just lack balls to say that you don't "love" it anymore?
Mass acceptance by following the herd is one thing, not having guts to call a spade a spade is another.
I am trying to imagine this smart-dressed designer sitting in a cafe in spring, and placing his/her 6 Kg powerguzzler machine on the fine cafe table in front - that image just doesn't work.
He is already talking about pussies ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^HMac users.
Troll much? The quality is same, before or after IBM. Lenovo was making those machines earlier, and they are making them now.
How many Thinkpad do you own? I have two, and they are handsdown the best out there.
In fact, after using T-60 for 3 years, I hate to touch even the shiniest Macbook out there, and let's not even talk about HP, Sony and Dell.
FAIL! You never play Tetris - Tetris plays YOU! Ask anybody who has spent hours on it and then have trouble adjusting to normal life without falling blocks.
What bugs me more is how to reply to a (seeming old, nice) lady at Comcast support who suggested I upgraded my flash player to get teh internets working.
I think you are confusing two things - FIOS and HDTV. Your question about FIOS is followed by something about HDTV.
1. FIOS is not mandatory for HDTV. But higher bandwidth definitely helps FIOS to deliver better HD content.
2. Grass looked liquid - probably because either the TV was not setup properly OR as the article says, it was subjected to random chopping due to limited bandwidth.
3. You mentioned that your picture looked as good - well, normally I do not buy corporate shit wholesome, but to give a (hopefully) suitable analogy, the real difference between HDTV and standard definition is similar to difference between tape and audio CD (or suddenly realizing you were seeing things with 'defective' eyes and then looking through your prescribed spectacles).
Though I have comcast HD at home, and a lot of HD content is compressed hell out of it, it's still miles better than standard definition and the only reason I still have my cable connection (and before you murder me for having Comcast, I do not have a choice unless I go dish, and I can not do that).
Producers are taking steps to hide the imperfections. Some shots are lit differently, while some actors simply are not shot at certain angles, or are getting cosmetic surgery, or seeking expert grooming.
"The biggest problem is razor burn," said Stormy Daniels, an actress, writer and director. "I'm not 100 percent sure why anyone would want to see their porn in HD."
They tie it to iTunes, because that's the software they use for synchronising it with a computer. It also happens to be the software that someone owning an Apple device with music capabilities is likely to be using.
Which part of dependency you do not get? I have music on my computer, I want to transfer it to another device. I own the computer, the other device and the songs. Why do I need to get a software from Apple to transfer songs? Why can't I just drag and drop folders/files - like I can do with my iriver?
Insightful? You are comparing one closed system v/s another and claiming one to be superior to another while the discussion is on Freedom - as in to be able to be free and not get stuck with one vendor because of their 'closed' formats of either hardware or software.
This is exactly the point noted by comments above you.
Yes, I am sure that was the last part missing. But by that, I did not mean they have already achieved the others.
To repharse what I said earlier - They have found the last missing part - the bling. Now they have to work on all of them and get to a reasonably satisfactory level.
Ubuntu (and many other popular distros) have been trying to get there. Last missing part was "Shiny" - Compiz and other similar eye-candies may get them there.
*sigh* yes. But on the brighter side, at least I can cut-n-paste on my phone :-)
aah typos. Kill me now.

I have yet to see a Mac shareware as bad as this.
Try Quicktime.
Original poster wrote "Apple's Monopolistic business practices" - not the same thing as saying "Apple is a monopoly".
But didn't Apple spend a whole ton of money to write and maintain Mac OS X?
Ever heard of BSD?
Follow the money? What? Are you trying to locate a terrorist organization here?
But looks like you have already chosen your side. At least don't just hang them without trial.
Anyways, what am I wishing? This is Apple - the angel v/s the evil story, right?

Aren't you slightly offtopic here. I don't see a point in bringing Apple fanboys into this.
Posting to undo accidental modding.

At some point, the FileVault account becomes corrupted. You can't log in to it, you can't recover it. It's gone.
But that's a feature. Ask any Apple fanboy.

No. Solving problems of customers solves 100% of the customer problems. Including internet related.
WTF? Comcast killed Kenny?

100TB ~= 100,000,000MB
But they have banned smoking in public (at least in most of the places in the US), right? So, what's next?

Shiny, and fast, and cheap, and useful.

Apple Kool Aid much?
