    I think one more reason why VHS won over Beta is the fact that a VHS tape could hold more hours of video.

    GIF failed because of licensing? GIF failed?! In my universe, this event never happened. PNG still can't replace GIFs for animations because MNG failed to catch on.

    Most of the 8x8 LED Matrices use round LEDs, so I don't see any problem with your request.

    The OS should be playing back video.

    Or are you telling me that those browsers have their own built-in image decoders? Their own font files? Their own font renderers? Their own GUI renderers? Their own mouse drivers? Etc, etc.

    It's the job of the OS to control the computer and display data. The web browser's job is to know which calls to make to the OS to display the web content.

    Flash has never crashed my iPhone, or my wife's, but it causes all kinds of trouble on my Mac.

    Assuming Safari: Preferences -> Security ->Enable plug-ins (uncheck) That way, Flash can't crash your computer either. Enable YouTube HTML5 support and you're good to go.

    Is it true built-in PDF support or does it need to be converted by Windows-only software to a format suitable for the eBook Pocket Reader? And being a Sony product, I assume it's Memory Stick only, or have they come to their senses and started using SD/SDHC like everybody else?

    All I want is a low-cost (100$ max), E-ink (reflective, extremely low-power) PDF reader with an SD memory card slot.

    No Web browser
    No MP3 player
    No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
    No keyboard (touch screen would be nice but at that price I would settle for a gamepad-style interface)

    We could see the karma value in the "AC account" but the website would ignore it to mod new posts. We don't want to see all the AC posts modded +2 right from the start, we only want to see what the average karma value of all ACs would end up being.

    I think what he meant is that if Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome all support one way to add a new feature and IE decides to support it in a different way, the W3C shouldn't make the IE way the standard one.

    Talking about that, where's Opera's support for box-shadow and border-radius? They're at version 10 for crying out loud.
