    The "stupid DRM format", has been gone from iTunes Store audio files for almost two years now.

    Buy music from the iTunes Store and you can play it on any device capable of playing regular AAC files.

    I wish slashdot would patch that automatically, i.e. one return = remove it because the poster doesn't know how the technology works, two returns = split into two paragraphs.

    If they can read it at least as fast as today's technologies, the power required to read/write data is roughly the same as today's drives and the manufacturing cost is also about the same, this is good news for everyone:

    1. On the consumer side, cheaper drives per terabyte meaning cheaper home media servers
    2. On the commercial side, a lot less energy required, i.e. no need for ultra-fast 15k RPM drives in servers, need up to 15 times fewer drives in server farms. This is BIG.

    There is only one problem.

    So yes, if you only see that sentence alone by itself, it will make you want to go and arrest the man.

    The question is, why didn't they dig a bit deeper to get more information such as more details about the supposed bomb and other supposed terrorists *AND* why was his message intercepted in the first place? Welcome to 1984. The real terrorists did win, everyone in North America now lives in a police state.

    At 3m54s, there's this very specific "aaaaaaah!" yelling that I've heard in a lot of movies. Is that some kind of running gag between audio engineers or something?
