How about just disconnecting the network from the Internet, that would keep them from ever intruding!! And brownie points, you would never have to worry about outsourcers.. Hey what the heck marketing people are stupid anyhow, take advantage of the stupidity while you can..
About the only solution I figure is to become a
business professional and compete with the companies that hire you by outsourcing Indians and Chinese as well.. It seems to be the only colution other than boycotting the Indians and Chinese.. I've seriously considered creating nuclear weapons and threatening the government, so that I can get food and support for free, hey it works for North Korea!!
Blender stores everything in a binary struct format.. To read it the program would have to be blender.. The best solution is to use something to access blender, like using a python plugin.. Of course you can use the VRML format, or some of the existing python scripts for converting between blender a number of formats..
You have to keep in mind this is a package that was developed to be used by someone else, not developed to be sold on a shelf.. Pixar makes their own inhouse software for instance, they only use Maya because their artists couldn't have learned their inhouse software before coming to Pixar, and their inhouse software is their proprietary experience, that nobody else owns.. Also its also the way they can keep their animators from leaving, if you know pixar's software really well and its not available to Pixar's competitors, you are only as useful as the experience you can abstract away from what you know of Pixar's software.. Same goes for Maya..
However the case with blender is its never going away.. And if it becomes a industry tool, it will mean less means to leverage artists into binding relationships with companies and with proprietary software vendors.. Thus Maya becomes only as good as it really is, and Pixar is only able to retain the artists that really want to stay. Its that case anyway.. But the existence of blender allows ayone with access to a computer a choice..
The reason there is any seperation between the exlcusively feeling wannabe or professional 3D artists using proprietary high dollar packages and everyone else is produced by jealousy. Its like the difference between Mick Jagger and Keither Richards.. But everyone is offered the ability to become a "rock&roll knight". So while the ones who would scoff, scoff, watch as their investment in a high-dollar package gradually deminish in value, and they pick on the lowly blender users as a result..
But its questionable if their art is worth as much as their say.. If you feel threatened, you probably are not a very good artist anyhow.. If you invest much of yoru artistic value int he tools, you are not a very good artist..
1. RIAA is after you 2. Ruin American Economy, of course everyone outside the US is already pirating so how can it hurt.. 3. Positive point, how many of you neglect your CD collections for mp3's, also how many are unproductive as a result of greedy intake via Kazaa and others?
I've remedied 3, I destroyed all my pirated music videos, music, etc.. Now I deal with less distracting crap and get more stuff done..
I think I could blaim a majority of the lack of success in America to the existence of programs like Kazaa.. But nobody here would care..
PS- IF you want to hear good music selections, just fire up the "80s Alt." or "NewWave" channel on Radio@Netscape.. Its the only radio I listen to these days..
Take the LED's put them on a wand that spins at 3600 rpm, make the LED's super bright and able to update at 120 (to eliminate flicker, or faster), then you could make a round full color monitor for less than 2000 dollars that never runs out of juice.. You might even try using some of that phosphorescence material that slows down the translucense of light to control the speed of the transfer from the LED's to the screen.. The monitor would last forever would never deteriorate in quality.. However pixels would not be square everywhere on display, at the edges it would be more skewed than at the center..
Oh and another thing, one things I've noticed about communistic, post-communistic countries is they try as hard as possible to look like capitalistic countries like America, I guess in hopes that their countries won't end up like russia, that the people in their country should see the need to revolt or have a contrary opinion.. I think in the case of Kim Jong Li, he's been know to have a huge ego but with a self-deprecating opinion of his looks, and I suspect this Internet advocacy serves a dual purpose, to spy on his own people and in part as ego boosting publicity for the country.
Don't believe it for a minute, Cuba has the same heavily monitored and heavily protected fire-walled dialup line to the outside, and it doesn't reach very far intot eh country.. It makes me wonder if anyone has tried to smuggling into Cuba or North Korea devices that allow rebel factions to exist without being monitored by the government.. Has anyone done reasearch onto creating devices that produce signals that can hide in a cosmic noise floor?
A friend of mine here at the local labs said once when they were send an oil tanker to North Korea, they had said they were going to use the Oil to help the people but instead had resold it to Russia or some such place to get money to fund their army.. Anyhow, my friend said the whole time on the bus to the location where they were to deliver this tanker, the translator that had come with him said the whole time to him "You know, we hate you."
Can you imagine a communist state where the people are brainwashed to imagine everyone the world is their enemy?
Anyhow he said the country was in shambles, poor people living in run down houses, the places where they were keeping their oil, the tanks were rusting.. Obviously Kim Jong Li is not very capable or responsible. Who would trust to use a so called secure email connection with such an untrustworthy boss?
The C64 had hardware sprites that would require simulated multitasking to simulate. And the Palms, most only have one voice.. It would be like getting a IBM XT to emulate a C64 with the memory management of a Timex Sinclair.
For those of you not familiar with programming the palms, its like a 286, its multiprogrammed,
you actually have to control your own tasking,
its monotasking in other words.. Your programs can not be more than 64K in size, in general,
but post OS 3.0 there are more freedoms..
Why do people use Palms anyhow, design
constraints force developers to think creatively and keep interfaces consistent and simple. But its not fast as a Ipaq, its far from feature ridden, its the perfect example of how the a bit of marketing and advertising can influence consumer decisions better than feature rich hardware additives and processing quality.
Any Ipaq could outrun and emulate several palms (why aren't they?).. And still the palms sell for around the price of some PalmPC's.
So what's the point of having a palm emulate yet another slower machine as the C64? Nostalgia, and maybe the consumers know better what they want than 3Com and Handspring?
Eventually there will a palmtop pc that emulates everything and people will get what they want and the technology supporting it will be vendor independent.. Like it is with telephone numbers for cellphones..
Oh come on if that is so much of a problem,
why not unhook the children from the Internet and just buy DVD's with all the relevent content..
I think we should also go back to the way it was in the old west, interview the teacher, hire her, if she doesn't do a good job, fire her, hunt for new prospects..
If that doesn't solve the problem, I don't know what will..
Oh yes Homeschooling, there is a concept..
If you can't control the schools, you can bypass it altogether.. Let the government figure it out..
The government only need start charging fees,
and then we are really in trouble. Is that the telephone companies true intent?
But then again, it would make people responsible for their Internet use..
Not that MP3.com had anything worthwhile going,
but I think all this DRM stuff is going to hit the ground with a large thud.. This goes right along with DVD-R camcorders, why would I want to record my homevideos into MPEG format which is ten time lossier than the MINI-DV MJPEG compressed videos? You are just compromising CD's for DRM's.. IT only makes sense in the amount of time you can download your music, but just like software licenses, you don't actually own the music, you own a license to it.. And furthermore this is a strike against the consumer, its an effort to make music into a purely compressed and manageable format.. Re-compressing it doesn't make sense, but its certainly no better than if your encoded a CD to say 192Kbps mp3 file.. See what they are trying to prevent? The CD format is a bad format for music sales becuase its not really lossy, its too perfect..
DRM's don't exactly lose quality over time, but what is to say they won't start selling you drm's with a annual expiration date? CD's have no expiration date..
Every business out there is interested in only one thing, making money. Some of them plan to track your usage, and these new flavors of proprietary music file formats could be a way to do that as well..
I think its pretty obvious to the computer geeks here what is going on, but as always the idiots will control the market..
Having a computer is okay.. Getting a dialup with email, is okay, getting dialup with limited Internet usage per day is okay, getting unlimited access on dialup is not good, getting broadband is just asking for trouble.. If you are going to get it, get it for a family computer, and allow say to have the children play multiplayer video games on that.. But
set a time for everything.. Try scheduling time,
where they specify what they will do in that time.. Like 8-9 Email Judy..
If they can't keep a schedule, they are surfing the net, and likely to end up somewhere doing something unproductive..
You'll end up without a job and a horrible
addiction as well as an ability to hold a stable relationship, as well as to deal with reality altogether..
I don't envy you..
I think what really helps is to bug the
children frequently, like every 30 minutes or
so.. Don't ask them what they are doing or
anything like that, that shows a lack of trust,
just bug them more, what they want is more time without you so they can do stuff behind your
back.. What they watch for is cues, like sounds,
times of the day, etc.. Just do stuff out of the ordinary, to fudge their plans.. If you find them getting ansy with you, chances are they are hiding something from you.. The best way to
handle the problems, if they tend to sit at the computer all day, that's not healthy, you might
try planning a trip or asking to go uptown or to play a boardgame.. Also might get them interested in reading books, or other kinds of offline activities.. If you can give them a good excuse to get offline. I mean not to suggest excuses but for them to have activities they can do that allow them to back out of the escape
and focus their attention on something else..
Another I would suggest is joining a christian church, like the Church of Christ, or any church that is based on the 1st Century church of christ. Not saying the others can't be good, its just my personal preference. That's not the Bostonian (or International ) Church of Christ, which is a manipulative spinoff that is not unlike a cult in its purest form..
Well this is stealing.. So you can rest assured that somewhere down the line you will pay for this sin.. That's what is bugging me.. I have to ask myself, is this loving god?
Of course I know a bunch of you are going, faaa.. God.. You fundamentalist christians, you and your gods.. I say fine it says in our on religion we accept persecution, its just more riches for us in heaven.. In other words, see if I care about your lack of faith.. Also to teh muslims interested in the jihad, there is nothing in the bible that counteracts your beliefs.. Fundamentally if you kill us, we both go to heaven, if you think in a multi-cultural mindset, but which perception is correct? Its the human perception though that says its wrong to kill another.. And that is aligned with the Christian which is non-confrontational.. However the muslim rhetoric was formed largely around the crusades which are poorly aligned with Christ's teachings.. Of course how many muslims read the Koran, how many of the Christians read the bible.. How many Catholics actually read the bible.. The Pope thinks he is a intercessor for god and man, Jesus is the only intercessor, the bible states this.. And gay bishop in the Episcopal church, what did Jesus say about politics and political relationships?? The first will be last and the last will be first.. Who washed the diciples feet? Jesus, jesus served the deciples, taking the lowest form of service.. Because God is the ultimate servant.. So unless your preacher, bishop, priest, serves you like someone greater, they are no more saved than the pharisees..
So you might contemplate, hey even having such a political and organized relationship in a church like that is wrong altogether.. Its not so bad to have churches split up, it just makes people more strong, do not have faith in the church but in god.. Church is just the natural evolution of treating others with kindness and worshipping god..
Anyhow.. The real issue is.. What have we lost from pirating.. I feel I lose god's grace, I lose something not measurable by instrumentation... Its how it affects me spirtually, and how it affects my feelings.. Is this right?? What am I missing here?
Have I made my collection of pleasure into a kind of religion, am I idolizing my Kazaa.. Do I then exist to collect music and not to experience life..
You wouldn't believe the potential to convert prisoners to christ.. Get this, you have people who think they are evil, spending time in a confined secluded existence, you tell them that they can't save themselves with works but by jesus sacrifice.. Basically its not something you do, but something he does.. So in effect, you give them hope, they realize that they have something to live for that spans persecution, makes some jailers uncomfortable, they can indentify with Paul, who had been in jail much, and it gives them a mission that can exist as much in jail as outside of jail.. Because of their seclusion and focus on god they can build up more riches for thesmelves in heaven and at the same time receive grace and special treatement from Jesus.. When they get out, depending on how much faith and belief they have, they will be more successful and a better person..
Of course that's a theory.. However I can attest to proof of its working, every sunday I attend services with prisoners at the local jail, and this ministry is changing lives in profound ways.. I am seeing a change int he conduct of the prisoners, I would say they are receiving more wealth in heaven than I am, they have more time to focus while I'm distracted by all mu multiples of gods, money, cd's, news, etc.. Distractions? Vices!! Idols..
Now you may look at prison life as a ultimate hell, but nothing is worse than hell.. Where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth for eternity.. If it makes it easier for you to contemplate that nothing will happen.. Maybe that makes your existence now easier, but after death, what if what I'm telling you does happen.. That you are judged and determined to go to
I've determined that its pointless to collect all the musics of the world, I enjoy less what I've downloaded because its not a complete album, it doesn't look as appealing as a new cd, the tangible evidence the the purchase and ability to hear the sound in un-mp3 encoded quality sound, and ability to re-encode at any compression quality, knowing I can always listen to the original cd's.. Also considering I have a 200+ CD collection I've neglected.. I've determined that I only get music online when I'm discovering new music.. What the old method was really bad for was this.. Buy 10 cds to get a handful of stuff I really wanted.. With the advent of Internet radio, it is making it easier to make purchasing decisions.. Especially if I can reference by precise year and genre..
What I really hate is not being able to purchase DVD's full of music videos from a particular era.. I don't know why the BMG's and music companies are so dunced about the possibility of say bringing back about and hour of "Night Flight" videos.. Or allowing people my age to revisite a portion of the past, that makes them feel young again.. For some reason they think its easy to just sell songs.. These guys need eletrodes applied to their noodle and a good crank of the telephone shaft because the ideas that are coming about sound like third rate marketing/sales/business dude mind blurt.. In any shape of form someway to compromise the quality of the experience in the interest of selfish greedy gain..
Consumers have every right to be selfish, they have the money.. The Businesses don't.. That's the politics.. And now with the Internet, it brings about, the idea that consumers are smarter than the recent ad campaigns, and no MBA from Harvard will get you through this one..
I thought that was a great idea, learning about CMOS in school.. Just rewrite all registers by XOR 1 when the voltage rises above the potential half voltage (when all bits are high), flip polarity, high voltage is represented by low voltage, low by high, statistically
making full on voltage improbable.. Simple and efficient energy and concept.. Now what could top that!!
I agree, all of these ideas are more or less thought up by business heads with marketing and revenues as their sphere of intelligence, not actual logic.. They are using piracy as an excuse to leverage other more limiting technologies on the consumer.. ITs like what Bush is doing with the war but applied the fall in revenues in the market..
It really boils down to, they are nto making the kind of revenues they want, and see this as a oprortunity to leverage things in their favor.. What they are not considering the the fact of the Internet, people will know, and people will refuse.. What they say about the stuff, the aesthetic appeal of the components, may be appealing to any cat in New York trying to keep up with the joneses.. Note the proportion of mac users in New York, I don't think very many of them buy computers to compute.. It think its like bathrooms in New York, a means to hide the less sociable functions that make life tedious and demeaning.. Especially if you date girls who also don't understand computers..
Anyhow, I think New York is where most of these ideas come from.. If you've ever been there, it seems design and marketing are pinacle, above the actual function and value of the features int eh design.. So the focus is how can we get the most money out of nothing and doing nothing.. Make the package pretty, make it function enough to be useful, in sofar as the short-attention span will lead before someone speaks up about ordering out at the mustang grill and getting a round of drinks.. Then out pops this idea, hey we could protect our revenues if we could just keep people from copying stuff.. Yeah that's the ticket, round out long island ice teas!! yeah!!
I can't wait to reveal this idea to my 'cociates tommorow at the meeting, I will be so cool!! I can just see my face smiling ont he cover of redherring..
Consumers are capable..
The problem is the companies will take the easy way out.. The easy way is, more methods to protect from piracy that are only limiting to the consumer.. Why not consider just increasing the bandwidth of the material and the multitude of information impossible to distribute over the Internet and pointless to send anyhow because of the full experience is attained with the original and not through dinky video/audio captures.. Like getting a U2 album with all the tracks and stereo 3D placement as well as reverb configurations so you can mix your own collection.. Sure your can redistribute a different version, but that's not the point, the point is you get a different and reproduceable experience on a medium that is not reproduceable.. No need to encrypt it or make it impossible to copy..
But another side to this conversation, what ever
happened to the concept of uniquely tagging the content so when its distributed it is trackable?
You could id everything on the disk according to some random number generator, and then make it impossible to untag.. Then at least you could track the piracy.. If not from the original abuser, down to the distribution channel and origins..
What are we fighting here, piracy or consumers?
I would like to make backup copies of my
owned material, I don't want material that can decide about my ownership or have to purchase from companies with policies that compromise consumer ownership in the interest of raising fourth quarter profits in the eyes of investors with no real sense of what they have invested in, all to be compared to that of Microsoft and CocaCola.. This idea should go back there with disposable DVD's and the other bad ideas Hollywood thinks up to protect their media and
investment forecasts..
Look piracy is bad, but leveraging the consumer is even worse, do you want to tarnish your brand beyond belief?
How about just disconnecting the network from the Internet, that would keep them from ever intruding!! And brownie points, you would never have to worry about outsourcers.. Hey what the heck marketing people are stupid anyhow, take advantage of the stupidity while you can..

Its not so bad to have churches split up, it just makes people more strong, do not have faith in the church but in god.. Church is just the natural evolution of treating others with kindness and worshipping god..
Anyhow.. The real issue is.. What have we lost from pirating.. I feel I lose god's grace,
I lose something not measurable by instrumentation... Its how it affects me spirtually, and how it affects my feelings..
Is this right?? What am I missing here?
Have I made my collection of pleasure into a
kind of religion, am I idolizing my Kazaa..
Do I then exist to collect music and not to experience life..
You wouldn't believe the potential to convert prisoners to christ.. Get this, you have people who think they are evil, spending time in a confined secluded existence, you tell them that
they can't save themselves with works but by jesus sacrifice.. Basically its not something you do, but something he does.. So in effect, you give them hope, they realize that they have something to live for that spans persecution, makes some jailers uncomfortable, they can indentify with Paul, who had been in jail much, and it gives them a mission that can exist
as much in jail as outside of jail..
That you are judged and determined to go to
I've determined that its pointless to collect all the musics of the world, I enjoy less what I've downloaded because its not a complete album, it doesn't look as appealing as a new cd, the tangible evidence the the purchase and ability to hear the sound in un-mp3 encoded
quality sound, and ability to re-encode at any compression quality, knowing I can always listen to the original cd's..
Consumers have every right to be selfish, they
have the money.. The Businesses don't.. That's the politics.. And now with the Internet,
it brings about, the idea that consumers are smarter than the recent ad campaigns, and no MBA from Harvard will get you through this one..
I thought that was a great idea, learning about CMOS in school.. Just rewrite all registers by XOR 1 when the voltage rises above the potential half voltage (when all bits are high), flip polarity, high voltage is represented by low voltage, low by high, statistically making full on voltage improbable..
ITs like what Bush is doing with the war but applied the
fall in revenues in the market..
Note the proportion of
mac users in New York, I don't think very many of them buy computers to compute..
Then
out pops this idea, hey we could protect our revenues if we could just keep people from copying stuff..
But another side to this conversation, what ever happened to the concept of uniquely tagging the content so when its distributed it is trackable? You could id everything on the disk according to some random number generator, and then make it impossible to untag.. Then at least you could track the piracy.. If not from the original abuser, down to the distribution channel and origins.. What are we fighting here, piracy or consumers? I would like to make backup copies of my owned material, I don't want material that can decide about my ownership or have to purchase from companies with policies that compromise consumer ownership in the interest of raising fourth quarter profits in the eyes of investors with no real sense of what they have invested in, all to be compared to that of Microsoft and CocaCola.. This idea should go back there with disposable DVD's and the other bad ideas Hollywood thinks up to protect their media and investment forecasts.. Look piracy is bad, but leveraging the consumer is even worse, do you want to tarnish your brand beyond belief?
Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to use a log-filesystem? And VNC?
