    Only if they statically compile them into their application. Under GPL any code (including proprietary) can retain its licensing providing that they do not statically link or include directly any GPL'd code.. Not exactly true. It depends on who you get this from. RMS states that ANY form of linking, with GPL code be it staticly, dynamicly, or directly included requires the code using the GPL'ed code to be released under the GPL. The LGPL license allows dyanmic linking without this problem.

    I suspect that if some distro were to licence the decryption they would run afoul of the GPL, unless they wrote their own player completely from scratch, without using ANY existing linux multimeda libraries.

    You're right. Word SUCKS. I can't figure out how to format numbered paragraphes for outlines at all. Wordperfect with it's 'reveal codes' was much better. Still there are people that swear by word, they love it. Guess some people just have a MS mind set. To each his own.

    I've tried installing sarge, but kde was broken (probably STILL is) and wouldn't install. Testing would have been stable enough for me, but over 6 months with a broken set of kde packages in testing is bullshit.

    I'm now running Gentoo.

    The heat energy required for the distillation process can come directly or indirectly from solar energy, which makes the ethanol production a completely renewable energy source. This would be similar to hydrogen, which can never be considered a new energy source because hydrogen is produced by electrolisis of water which will require more energy than the hydrogen will produce. In this case we must consider hydrogen as a way to transport energy, by converting it from one form to another. The same will have to apply to ethanol produced with solar powered distillation.

    Last time I looked Crucial was cheaper than Kingston, and is a MUCH better product! (Buy direct from their website via a link from the Gentoo website and they will make a donation to Gentoo Linux, or at least they were doing that last time I bought some dram from them).

    Also you don't save much dropping in speed from PC2700 to PC2100, unless you are looking for the drams over 512mb.

    It only means that your employer isn't in violation of law if he doesn't offer it. It is still legal for you to have in your employment contract that you WILL be paid for overtime. Just as because the minimum wage law sets a minimum pay rate doesn't mean that you will actually get paid at that rate, this law doesn't mean you won't get overtime pay.

    I see the uses for a product as such but if we keep allowing the govt to monitor us at what point will it stop? After your car has the black box they will want you to breath in a tube to start your car every time. In some states they DO already! However the equipment to do this only has to be put in cars driven by people already convicted at least once for DUI.

    You're all thinking of something out of 007 such as in 'Diamonds are forever' or 'Die another day'. Both had solar powered lasers in orbit with giant solar collectors to focus the sun's light onto the earth in a laser beam.

    Or are you thinking of the high powered laser in the movie 'real genius'? That one used a laser crystal frozen in the active state that melted while firing. A one shot weapon.

    For anyone getting basic cable the package deals may actually be a good buy. Force the Cable companies to go 'a la cart' and you'll end up paying MORE for the same package, or end up with LESS choice as the cable companies drop 'freebee' channels that no one would want to pay for.

    Actually in another 2 to 3 billion years the sun will shine about 3% brighter and hotter, which will be enough to wipe out life on earth. Some scientists eve, think this process might even start 1 billion years from now, which would cause the oceans to dry up.
    Maybe even sooner, I've heard the figure at 100 Million years. Fact is our sun has been geting brighter since the begining and the earth is right now at the inner edge of the 'habitable zone' of the solar system. In a 100 million years or so Mars will enter this zone and earth will be leaving it!

    I bought the DVD-RAM drive a few years ago, and shortly later, that format died.
    DVD-RAM is VERY much alive. In the field of stand alone set top VCR like devices Panasonic and a few others make some very nice DVD-RAM recorders. DVD-RAM can pull some nice tricks, like playback while recording in different spots on the disk. I have also seen a new computer dvd multi format drive at a computer show that will record and play back on dvd-r, dvd-rw, dvd+r, dvd-r, cd-r, cd-rw, AND DVD-RAM! You can buy dvd-ram media many places for these dvd-ram vcr's, even radioshack.
