.... Actually, I've talked to some IT people who wish they worked on IBMs rather than dells. When it comes to those corporate PCs, the IBMs are easier to work on, and IBM has a longer promised time between when a Drive image will not work accross the same model. I've hears horror stories where dell images would be broken in just a couple months.
Acer? Not sure about the laptops, but last time I checked a lot of IBM's desktop stuff was made by MSI. That was a few years ago though. OEMs can change in a much shorter timeframe than that.
.... I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure much of Hon-Hai (FoxConn) has a good deal of manufacturing in China.
Guess who Dell uses for many of their mainboards and cases.:)
NOPE! It actually varies from Merchant to Merchant. American express, for example, is the exact OPPOSITE. The merchant can, in theory be held liable if there is a fraudlent transaction and ID was not checked for.
See: http://home5.americanexpress.com/merchant/resource s/fraudprevention/reductioncard.asp
Having a POLICY to always check ID is safer than worrying about being accused of 'discrimination.'
Pardon me for saying this... Because it is absolute flamebait, but...
Tracing a lot of these e-mails show that they are hosted on Russian websites...
Between the Possibility of Sobig coming from a Russian company...
The fact Coolwebsearch is from a Russian company...
And these phishing e-mails...
Why DON'T we delink them?
To a certain extent.
But, Certain platter sizes aren't really made anymore. This is why a 40GB Drive isn't much less than an 80. Things like that...
Although, the problem being, in most of those cases, they just never put a head on the other half of the platter.
... Don't trust Metro Detroit Newspapers. They are Horribly biased, misinformed sources of information.
You'd probably be seeing less bias reading an anti Piracy article from the RIAA than an article from one of the local papers.
2. Bonus: "The Best Non-Star-Wars Films of Mark Hamill"
Mark Hamill IS the Human Cockroach in Guyver. You look at the box, And you think, Sweet, Mark Hamill as a hero! But... no... no.. He's just a scientist.
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0101988/
Let it be known, though, Hamill did also do some of the voices for the Animated Batman series, IIRC.
You can patent it. BUT the Prior art will protect everyone from getting royalties.
Back to my 'let's make a paintball analogy,' Tom Kaye Invented the Powerfeed. He didn't patent it. Some other floozy patents it, tries to make everyone pay up. Tom's Prior art to the rescue, the patent exists, but is more or less 'worthless'
There is a HUGE shakeup in the paintball industry right now, because a specific company managed to have their patent on a gun broadened to the point where ANY Electronic paintball gun, no matter how different the design was, infringed on their patent.
.... The Lucent Drivers SUCK for windows 2000. I kid you not, I had to talk to an orinoco rep because my laptop wasn't working with my Orinoco mini-pci card woth a crap. I told him I was running Win2k (Which is one of the OS options from the manufacturer...) And he immediately gave me the solution... Because it was a known problem.
1: Install Windows 2000 with NO service packs (This was when Win2k was being bundled with SP3, so I had to go hunt down a CD:))
2: Install the M$ 802.11b Hotfix.
3: Install The Lucent Drivers. (You may have to install the Hotfix again)
4: Install Service pack 3.
To quote him. "And that might work."
Bloody Beautiful.
Truth is stranger than fiction.
I'd be afraid to open certain batteries, Especially those that are Lithium Based. Lithium reacts very violently with water... which is why they tend to be so well sealed, and have things like 'do not puncture' warnings.
Actually...
For the longest time, Sound cards have had their own built on processors for various tasks.
The Envy24 series is the first in a while to actually offload certain functions to the CPU.
And the Envy cards (Namely the Revolution 7.1) are the best I've ever used, Quality Wise. The Revo even sounds better than those fancy Audigy 2 Platinum EX (+ Hyper Fighting Double Impact Championship edition) cards.
You're slightly mistaken. It was the NV1 which supported Saturn Games.
But everyone forgets the Matrox M3D. It worked in a manner similar to the Voodoo, but didn't need a Pass-Through cable of any sort.
But yeah, before that we had the Virge, in all of it's variations (GX, DX, etc, I still can't remember which one was faster,) Complete with lackluster Direct3D Support (If I recall correctly, it couldn't do transparancies in MDK) God, that M3D was such an upgrade.

I think the problem is people don't know the difference from 'ripping off' and 'being unoriginal'
