In a way, they've done that with GWT. And it's in many ways similar to Android: use Java for development, then recompile into something else (HTML+JavaScript or Dalvik bytecode).
I think Google should tie their new offerings with XUL. Imagine GMail (and all the other sweet stuff they have in the lab) with XUL interface. Yes, it would still work in plain HTML, but XUL version should be way better. Since Microsoft is targeting Google, this would be great defence for them. OK, so Mozilla/FireFox works on Windows too, but that doesn't matter. It's cutting IE domination and Office domination and responding to.NET danger that will bring Windows to an even playground and then just let the best OS win. I think we all know which will it be.:)
Well, what about current Java IDEs, like Borland JBuilder 9? Userland software on current machines can be written in java an will run smoothly and Moore's curve will allow even lower level stuff to go to java (or Python, Ruby...)
So what is stopping Netscape -- or anyone else -- from shipping a working version of just plain browser, developed on top of Mozilla platform and let the guys at Mozilla.org put all sorts of cool shit into it for as long as they like?
Well, they also invented the 'XMLHTTP' which spawned Ajax, but almost nobody would associate them with it now.

Don't know about Slovakia, but I have a Belgian friend (country with more beers than any other) and he can't get enough of Slovenian Zlatorog. ;)
It's Adobe/Macromedia, it will have a Flash front end. To get a taste, try this.
That's why we have the .SWF extension. Oh wait, maybe it's ShockWave Flash?
VoIP Buster. Works like a charm. Now. No ads. And I'm not planting one now. :)

After deciding to go with The Penguin, the company is now ready to expand its zoo with Monkeys and Chameleons. Great circus coming into town!
Java will survive without Sun. First of all, Sun has to fold completely. I doubt it will happen soon, still it can spin-off Javasoft.
Too many serious businesses have strong interest in Java: IBM, Oracle, Nokia, BEA, just to name a few.
Anyway, Sun's demise could bring something good to Java: finally completely open sourced.

Now all we need is some good power lines to Earth.
Oracle 9i will be App server + Database (successor to 8i)
Anybody feeling nostalgic about classic games should try Deluxe Ski Jump.
FYI -- M18 is taking shape in the nighties!
