This together with the earlier post http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/01/2 3/1640254 about growing chains of neurons like an "extension cord" means that we are making huge advances in the soldering analogy with electronics--but in brains.
Expect to see "leads" drawn from *specific sites* on brains to pins on processors or storage chips.
I, for one, welcome our new overclocked overlords.
...is a fantastic book about (among other things) establishing a massive data center (actually, an enclave in a barely fictional tiny rich country, perhaps the Bultanate of Srunei). And come on--it's Neal Stephenson!
Well-written and informative, if you want to know more about the whys and wherefores of data centers, this is a great book.
If so, then we can expect two more for sure, and maybe more. "The Ramans did everything in threes."
Unfortunately, all except the original will mass much more than their structure can support, as high-powered telescopes reveal Gentry Lee trying vainly to tie them all together.
Not a chance. It has been demostrated that living things are actually repulsed by these "Ben J.Lo" objects, so the scientifically-inclined among us could expect the biomass to carry earth clear. Gaia adherents have even less concern.
I told you all that if we just let the inspectors finish their jobs, sooner or later, the Weapo--what? Oh. Well, Sanctions, then. If we would just give the sanctions time to work...
Contrary to popular opinion, I believe Bush's re-election will bring closer ties with Europe, after a few months of obligatory hand-wringing.
Voter Fraud is nothing new in these States, but I suspect that the capability to seek, identify and correct that fraud is what has increased. So what looks like an epidemic may actually be a Good Thing.
I live in Japan, and they, like you, do not vote directly for the Head of State (Yeah, okay, through the immaculate intercession of the Electoral College, etc...). I showed my absentee ballot to my wife (had copied and faxed it (bar codes intact)to my pct back home). I think she was struck by the gravity of the thing. What's odd is that *I* was suddenly impressed with it...but I'm rambling; pardon me.
The long lines^H^H^H^H^H queues for voting are a result of our heretofore miserable turnout. Again, I believe that this is not so much a terrible new development as a process improvement revealing other areas which need improvement.
Loved the charts; hated the facts. Look at the URL for the "Bush and Kerry Record" link. That explains why there's no mention of questions surrounding Kerry's military service. If old news like that doesn't matter, why have Bush's linked? If it does matter, why not link Kerry's?
By the way, military service includes time spent subject to the UCMJ engaged in possibly treasonous activities, e.g., unauthorized meetings with enemy delegations, during time of war, while still on military payroll.
So whether you, dear reader, and I agree or not, it does seem odd that the website only asks questions of one side. Unless you accept that electoral-vote.com is a pro-Kerry site.
Did you see Chris Matthews' ("Hardball" TV Show) take-down of the author? Matthews, *not known for his right-leaning tendencies*, absolutely destroyed Kitty Kelley, just by asking her questons about the validity of what she wrote.
If you must read this book, then for God's sake, borrow a copy, but DON'T PAY FOR IT. You'll only encourage her.
I predict Microsoft will make it's prediction that Windows will be crippled w/o the player come true by putting something into the software that annoys the end users.
"We are ready to restart negotiations with the Commission. We have always said people have issues that need to be addressed through face-to-face negotiations to tease out the technological nuances. We remain committed to that," Smith said.
Only if by "face-to-face negotiations to tease out technological nuances" he means "coercion".
He warned that if the court upheld the Commission's decision it would "slow innovation" in Europe, raise prices for consumers and privilege some special interests.

Ever since the arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat made it clear that he would accept nothing less than the complete destruction of Israel, by rejecting a deal that got him everything he asked for EXCEPT for that, we suspect that he is more interested in killing people than talking to them. This is all President Bush's fault.

Sacre Bleu! Hang on a moment Slashdotters, but we may have come across a rare specimen of un-biased journalism!
I, for one, welcome our new, well, um... Hey, how about that? We're free! WE'RE FREE!

I can do this with two nested FOR loops, a hammer and some scotch tape.
It's OK, Slashdot still loves you.

I'm afraid it is a battle, that. You are bound too loosely.
1-handed typing now means holding baby in other hand. sigh.
You are not in a good position to nag somebody about their sig. You should use mine. (see below)

How come when Joe gets his rocks off, it's Bill who comes?
The article has been obfuscated.
The view from the right, http://www.powerlineblog.com/, the further right http://www.littlegreenfootballs.com/, and the stridently right http:www.anncoulter.org/.
Of course, for the view from the further left, one need only turn on the television, which is the whole point about the exit polls.
Enjoy!

Now try to imagine Keanu Shatner..."DU-U-U-UDE! ... DU-U-U-U-U-U-UDE!!!"
Nice job on the editing. I thought I was the last^H^H^H^H^H only one still doing that.
ps. if you want to b1tch about MicroSoft, remember if it was't for MS-Word, you would have to use a typewriter like the National Gaurd.

Well, thank God they spelled/chose *affect* correctly. Unless they meant to affect an individual, by effecting a state?
