My social studies (PC way of saying history) teacher from 8th grade has the barcode/upc for poptarts tattooed on his forearm. All the had to do was walt up to a barcode scanner, swipe hsi arm over it, and poptarts rung up.
Yay! this is great. but its too little too late. Dont get me wrong, im not at all in favor of FireWire/IEEE 1394/iLink, but it is on almost _every_ video camera that is shipping.
Just a technacallity (sp?)... The MS optical mice came before the apple-buttonless-mouse (i know other laser optical mice predated the MS one, but those sucked because of the mousepads.)
Not sure what the company was, but i saw a news magazine (cant remember if it was 60 minutes, 20/20, etc.)piece about a russian company that has regular trips there. They use a nuclear-powered icebreaker to get there and once they are there they do all sorts of things. Walk through all 24 time zones in 24 steps, cut a hole in the ice and jump in, and a few other things. I think the trip cost about 10,000USD but i cant remember the company.
Yes, but its at 700MHz (on AC power) and thats the same as the high-end Curusoe (sp?) IIRC. Also, the MPIII is shipping, whereas I have yet to see an actual on-the-market product with a Curusoe (sp?).
They have? Here (southern california, USA) we get 3Mbit down and 256kbit up. But since the GI SB3100 cable modem uses compression, you can get higher (Ive actually gotten 10Mbit down and 800Kbit up. The modem will do 39Mbit down, but the the 10BT port kinda cuts it.) Also, in september they (local cable company) will be releasing Cox@Work which is designed for buissness. 10 Mbit each way, the "modem" is a cisco router and you can run all the servers you want. If only i could afford it ($250/mo is the estimated price)
There's also a blank 51/4" bay at the top of the machine (if you don't have Zip)...
Since when do Zip's come in 5 1/4? The ones i see are always 3 1/2. Id like to see one of these. Or is apple just wasting a 5 1/4 slot with a Zip? (with 5 1/4 to 3 1/2 bay thingy)
The G4 is also made by IBM. IBM makes the chip, motorolla slaps on packaging and Altivec. Presumably it would go the same way with the G5 only wihtout the ALtivec addition.
According to http://cdimage.debian.org/: "Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 ("Potato") has been released. CD images are becoming available on our mirrors at this moment."
Not just OpenNap. There is also AlterNap, BOMBnap, DJNap, Doublehirc, EnergyBC, GimmickNap, IndustrialNap, Insomniac, ItalianNap, KinkyNap, MP3Boy, MyNapster, Nakednap, NedBelNap, OzIndexNapsterNetwork, PhrozenNap, PowerNap, ProcrastinatorNap, and PublicAccessUNIXSystemsNapsterServers. If you have any questions, i dont know, i just got all the names off Napigator (a great little util for win32 Napster).
Merging ICQ and AIM would be a huge pain in the ass. AIM deals with unique names and ICQ deals with unique numbers (hence UID). What would you do? Make all the ICQ users get new names? Assign numbers to the AIM users? The bottom line is it just wouldnt work.
We're only including Windows 98SE and Windows 2000, and we're leaving out Windows 95 and 98 because, let's face it, they're 2+ years old. RIDICULOUSLY SLOW RELEASE SCHEDULE.
If they were reviewing (sp?) Windows, i think it would be proper to only review the latest versions. I dont know what version of the linux kernel was out 2 years ago, but i presume is was 2.0.x or 0.x. Do you want them to review these? No. So what are you complaining about? They only review recent versions of products?
This same question has been asked of the dnet client. Basically, it would be very inefficient becuase the dnet client relies on int and not fpu. Also, very hard to write.
(Dont get my wrong, i loooove dnet) Maybe becuase a new build/release comes out liek every 3 weeks... it would fill up/. But maybe a major version release (like 2.8x) would be good.

IIRC the Abit BP6 (a geeks favorite mobo) has 4 busses (8 drives). 2 of the busses are ATA33, 2 are ATA66.

Sorry, i should have said that Cox@Work will be capped at 10Mbit and that the "modem" has a 100BT port.
