    I used RT at the last place I was a UNIX admin. It's not a terrible system, but writing extensions in perl/mason was not a simple task, do to what should have been simple reporting metrics.

    Uh, have you used a DSLR? Been able to change the exposure for years. In fact, even some P&S digitals have the feature now. Plenty of people do time-lapse with digitals.

    dtrace and ZFS make me cream my jeans, but they'll probably just get ported to other unix-likes (or similar things like tux3 and kprobes will "get there") Not that I don't like opensolaris. After writing some D scripts, I'd like to use it in a few applications.

    only way for gimp to interact with RAW images is with ufraw, which is very poor for dealing with a lot of photos.

    Also, it doesn't support 24-bit color images (last time I checked)
