I would have to say that the review was quite favorable. If anything, it put them one away from the top and pointed out that the program is still in Beta. With that in mind, the review was very favorable.
The tool that you installed through WindowsUpdate was likely not their Anti-Spyware tool, but the tool they created to remove several worms and viruses.

That's more or less what they did, except it was Giant that they took this from.
At the end of the install, it still says "Launch Firefox 0.8"
