Coming from a background of Windows, Linux, OS X, Amiga OS, BSDs, Solaris etc. I had no more difficulty picking it up than iTunes, Real Player or Windows Media Player in full view mode.
I honestly didn't really see what was so hard about Amarok's UI.
They know the system they took it from was not the target, because the parameters don't match. With all due respect, your suggestions have been unhelpful.
Because you can't. You either get the exact hash right or fail. It's not like in the "hacker" movies, where you see each character 'unlock' individually while 'hacking'.
Alternatively, there are side channel attacks that might be feasable if there was some depth to work with, but from what I can see, there isn't any here.
You make it sound like vendors such as HP, System76, Lenovo etc. don't have already existing, presupported hardware setups for Linux that have full hardware acceleration. Maybe in future you should buy supported hardware to run on Linux instead? Because if you aren't going to buy properly supported hardware, VALVe supporting Linux isn't going to magically make it work anymore than it is now.
Prefork is pretty much used in any areas where Apache is used in high demand services. You can get fairly decent performance out of Apache in this mode provided you have adjusted the system's file descriptors according to the child processes and traffic the webserver is meant to handle.
If you want him to shut up, why don't you refute the Halloween documents, patent licensing seeking, open document format poisoning attempts, FUD spread by Balmer etc?
If he clearly has no point, then you shouldn't have a problem refuting some of those major arguments, guy.
Why do you make the assumption people only run Linux for the ability to not run proprietary software? It seems like a very narrow view of the world you got there.
You do realise installing proprietary driver in major distros like Ubuntu is rather painless, it's easier than windows. Just start the driver manager application, and check the driver you want to run.
Having to install a proprietary driver for games on Linux like windows really isn't as big of a deal like you make it out to be.
Are these the same competent programmers that had authentication systems for the source engine handled client side, which allowed me to skip password logins on server by changing a file that dealt with the UI?
Cygwin is more POSIX compliant than OS X. I don't have to worry about forking without exec on cygwin, since it's not thread safe on OS X, nor do I need to worry about a half passed pthreads implementation. You should however get a Mac if you want your code to run on OS X. Having POSIX compliant code is not enough and may need to workaround some issues with OS X specific APIs.
But you probably have seen much more kickass commercial titles than open source ones?
Yes, however I've also seen more crap commercial titles than open source ones too. I'm not convinced from a percentage ratio of crap verses good that they are significantly different. I suspect that there are less than 1% of both commercial and opensource games qualify as 'kick ass'.
What's wrong with Krita and Karbon again? Why do you mention the wrong software for the job? GIMP is for image manipulation not painting. Nor is it for vector art, or printing. Recommending GIMP for artsy usage outside of image manipulation seems odd.
My only question to you is, if Amarok's interface is so horrible, why didn't you change it?
It's not like you can't use a 1.x interface or have it appear as any other popular media player.

I have a hard time buying your argument, please provide more details, to be more precise:
Define invent. Then prove that Apple did that (linking to a credible source is of course enough)
Define Personal Computer. Then prove that Apple created it (linking to a credible source here too is of course enough)
Define what a smartphone is. Then prove that Apple created it initially (linking to a credible source would also be acceptable here too).
Define what a tablet is. Then prove that Apple created it initially (linking to a credible source yet again would be acceptable).
Then explain why this should mean Apple should be the only company to ever produce such products.
Cool story, bro.

Nobody is forcing you to use noscript.
So what you're saying is, we can get twelve women pregnant and have a baby in just one month if they work together.
Sorry, I don't buy it for babies and I don't buy it for software.

I wonder if some will just ignore IE10 over this as opposed to all browsers.

You realise using the Windows API and implementing it are two very different things, right?

Which makes me wonder why you use OS X, since tools like LyX have an assortment of issues with OS X only due to improper POSIX implementation.

XNU is Not UNIX.
DNS is not the Internet.

Halp, I can't run Second life (open source application) on my Linux system on a m68k processor. Wat do?
I have seen a lot of shit commercial titles and equally shit open source ones.

Good going on not reading the article properly.
