Yeah, I wasn't entirely serious with that post. Slashdot, if nothing else, at least groups various "conversations" together for easy reading in a somewhat-coherent fashion. Although, if the mods aren't interested in a conversation it magically becomes off-topic, but that's a side issue if you give off-topic posts a modifier or something.
Should Ask Slashdot be replaced with a form that queries Google? There are a lot of web pages out there written by morons, but Google appears to do a decent job of sorting out the morons and it has the advantage of not squelching legitimate complaints against popular OSS/GNU/etc. icons.
Wow, never heard that one before. You forgot to mention WMDs and bin Laden, by the way.
Besides, it's not a liberation mission unless we take out the Martian overlords and then setup a puppet government to take away their natural resources.
Just remember that in War of the Worlds, Mars occupies YOU. (That last comment is for completeness, not humor)
Actually, all the suggestions in the summary will work for me. My 486 66Mhz belongs in a museum, but I've overclocked it (manually) to nearly 200MHz, so I can put out fires in my museum-worthy system, while utilizing water cooling!
I don't like to brag, but I smell a Nobel Prize...
Actually, I think the parent meant to say "commant" when referring to Google since the spelling is very similar to "commandment." Given that Google is an Internet deity of sorts, wielding nearly limitless indexing, searching, and ranking power, I think the term "commant" is perfectly appropriate when referring to It. Praise be to Google for Its enlightened opinion on the morally questionable name of "Linspire."
Is that a "Wow! What are they smoking? Since when were drugs for nerds?" point of view he's talking about or perhaps a "Wow! What are they smoking? Why is their English still mostly intact?" or (most probably) "Wow! What are they smoking? Can I get that here in the States?"

Me: "So I just have one question: why couldn't the docs be taken straight to the customers?"
XCode: "Look, I already told you! I deal with the customers so the engineers don't have to! I have people skills! I am GOOD at dealing with PEOPLE! What the heck is wrong with you people??"
My girlfriend is a sadistic, cruel, pathological liar who I can never trust with anything more important than a napkin used to wipe dog snot off the kitchen window. She always claimed my penis was big enough to satisfy her, but my incoming email continuously proves her wrong, explaining that
I'm way too small and she secretly wants me to grow a penis so monstrously large that upon ejaculating, it does more damage than catching a load of buckshot in your face from a double-barreled shotgun three inches away. One day I attempted to confront her about these falsehoods she was using to poison my mind and she responded by feigning ignorance. "What emails are you talking about? I never sent you anything of the sort!" I confidently pointed her in the direction of my inbox, and after a few clicks she replied, "honey, those are spam messages from accounts named "pf38faf238@z4e9fgk39g3mail.com." I called her a liar and stated that if you read something on the Internet then it must be true. That's when she suddenly became "clumsy" and accidentally fell down the stairs. It also explains why she has to now wear the giant dark aviator sunglasses even at night; she wants to be a jet pilot like Clint Eastwood in the movie "Firefox" where he had to steal a Russian military prototype jet which flew so fast that it traveled through time and made Eastwood age 40 years for every 40 minutes spent in it.

His argument is moot for people that use something like GCC to generate ELF binaries that compile code for multiple x86 architectures and execute the best one at runtime.
That's funny; I didn't address this guy directly because I wasn't talking to him, but rather to the mods who thought his post was worthy of an insightful moderation.
How did this get modded insightful? The example make sense, but he's arguing against a point made by someone who appears to have a slightly below average intellect for a house fly or SCO manager (take your pick).
Oh wait! He mentioned Slashdot. Because none of the rest of us know anything about the community here.
By "zombies" in Wolf3D, of course I meant the mutant guys. Nazi's are not necessarily zombies although the two categories do have some overlap as demonstrated by Return to Castle Wolfenstein and its terrible plot line.

I don't have access to my firewall. I'm firewalled against my will.
So then firewalled people can only download at 1-2k/sec? That wouldn't help me out too much...

I guess the majority of Mac users that have mod points on Slashdot just aren't ready to come out of the closet, yet.
I also noticed it was modded overrated by someone. Hmmm, could that be someone who doesn't want to be metamoded for being a homo?

A pinky ring, perhaps...

At least then I could get a few FPs here...
If by "important" you meant "heterosexual" then yes.

Anyone remember that song? From the rave in Blade.
Confusion by New 0rder. Best. Rave. Ever.
So... a cocoanut? Is this that book written by the guy on that "Castaway" documentary?
WILSON! WILSON!
My name's Voit, moron!

Looks like somebody just got murked on logic and it wasn't the parent of this post...

Agreed. I've been 0wnzing zombies ever since the days of Wolfenstein 3D and it is definitely an entertaining use of time.
I had a relative who had a name something like George Washington Shakespeare Lee Miller. I kind of wish I had a name like that now...
Since no one writes documentation for OSS, such a bug is a non-issue.
