Yes, I'm sure that standards will speed up development.
I mean, just look at all the applications that are springing up around the Atom and FOAF frameworks... oh wait, people are just whining about the standards and no one is developing applications...
Thanks for the correction. As you can plainly tell, I did no research on the topic and just used the meaning I thought I heard in numerous articles (articles that clearly did little research as well). The joys of popular misconception.
Lua will not get more complicated because it is designed to be a lightweight embedded scripting language. The only complexity is that which the embedders choose to add to make the language useful within their programs. I read the Lua mailing list and it looks like it's going to remain as simple as it is (~10k lines of the common subest of ANSI C and C++).
The only reasons I've heard of people disliking Family Guy for are these:
Family Guy has many jokes that poke fun at racial and religious issues. Some people do not like these and transfer their hatred of these jokes onto the entire show.
Additionally Family Guy does not take itself seriously and often has incoherent plot twists. These are intended to be funny to my knowledge.
My point is that MDI already implemented by top-level windows. There should be no distinction between inner and top-level windows. This is why virtual desktops make more sense than MDI and tabbed interfaces in almost all cases.
Go google for some of the Mozilla developers' comments against supporting tabs, they're not hard to find. Their points are very valid under X11 but they do not make sense under Windows (I think I forgot to mention this before).
Yes the advantages of a tabbed browser are obvious, but the problem is already solved under UNIX with virtual desktops. There is no need for tabs within the browser except for the one I described in my earlier post. The Mozilla team is thus duplicating work and introducing inconsistency to the so-called Linux desktop.
The problem with MDI is that it seems like it's got a bunch of windows when it really doesn't (they're just inner-windows). The best solution (the one the GIMP supports well and is often used under X) is to use virtual desktops. This allows the user to group windows from different applications, move them between desktops, etc.
Tabbed interfaces suffer from the same problem, but since they actually save quite a bit of resources, they're actually very helpful on slower machines.
I was just looking at this stuff yesterday. Feel free to google for "MDI virtual desktops" or "application tabs window manager tabs" and such. Many of the people working on Mozilla had quite a bit to say against a tabbed web browesr...
I believe the hardware that prevents counterfeit US currency from becoming commonplace involves special paper, watermarks, and temperature sensitive ink.
Does this include Monopoly money? I keep running out of it so I occasionally print out a little more. I believe the Microsoft monopoly does something similar... I would guess that's what they wrote MS Paint for.
I don't get it, your post was helpful but you posted AC... there's something fishy about this. Did you beat your karma addiction or what? If so, please come to the karma whore support group over on Anti-Slash =)
I can't give you a definitive answer, however I was watching Iron Chef the other day when, coincidentally, this was the featured ingredient. I believe the challenger used dog excrement in a simple soup with yellow broth as well as an ice cream-based desert. Neither of these required the use of a microwave.
The iron chef was Iron Chef China. First, he fried some of the dog feces to make the one of the staple Chinese dishes: sweet and sour fecal matter.
But then it happened: he put a small amount of brown sludge into the microwave to make New York-style pizza. I'm not entirely sure what length of time was required, but it was less than 4 minutes and probably somewhere around 2 and a half minutes.
Feel free to experiment with this new culinary treat and if you figure out the proper amount of time, please reply. I look forward to hearing about your recipes and results!
Your signature says that Family Guy sucks. Surely that was a mistake. Family Guy is one of the most hilarious shows ever created (many episodes easily beat the Simpsons for insanely funny jokes).
How anyone could think that show sucks I just don't understand...
I got tired of Real constantly crashing its player or my browser (depending on if the plugin was being used). Horrible DRM-encumbered software that I can't stand... fortunately MPlayer under Linux can play some RealVideo stuff (though it works better with Windows Media files)

I would thank you for the information, but I have yet to obtain a Braile terminal.
With an ever-increasing adoption of Ogg Vorbis, I'm seeing an increasing number of new users refer to it as OGG. This is a trend that I would like to counter with this piece of authoritative information: It's not OGG, it is Ogg! You may think that this is an insignificant difference, but I don't think so...It is a word, not an acronym, and it's pronounced like Dog without the letter D.

I can confirm this and since I'm not an AC, maybe someone will listen. Sorry if my spelling is bad, I am just beginning to get the hang of being blind...
Oh, I see. No one wants to answer to this heinous crime, so people mod me down in an attempt to silence the Slashdot revolution against imprecise word choice, bad spelling, and poor grammar...
Or you could just use a file manager and then DnD (drag and drop) the file into the program. That would give you a preview if you had it enabled in, say, Nautilus.
No kidding. And this file selector isn't even being developed and as far as I can tell, the author of that article is not a UI designer with professional experience (she seems to assume her opinions are facts).
So at what point would a troll be considered funny? I thought this post was pretty hi-larious...

Except that there is no need to buy a license for using Gtk and the GNOME libraries.
Save money and don't develop for Qt/KDE =)

Ah, I see you have already had your sense of humor removed. Sorry to waste your time.
I think you might be confused: Moore's Law applies to the speed of computers, not their size.

Hmmm... a karmaphobic. Never seen one of those before. Or are you just karma-whoring with this most recent post? =)

"OGG" is incorrect. The correct capitalization is "Ogg." More info at the official Vorbis news page and the associated Ogg Traffic:

Actually, the more-than-famous thing is a reference to the movie Three Amigos where they didn't understand the exact meaning of the word...
