Perhaps even sicker given the fact that my girlfriend was on the tube train from Aldgate East to Kings Cross just 5 minutes before the first bomb.

The bus exploded outside the window of where she works.

Looking on the bright side, at least she gets tommorow off work.

It's good to hear the female perspective in a topic which is mainly men-talking-about-women. Thanks!

Talking about geeky-girls, my typically non-geeky girlfriend shocked me yesterday when we were on the train:
Me, "You know, you're actually pretty good with computers for a girl",
    She (sarcastically), "Thanks..."
Me (teasing), "Hey, infact your a bit of a wiz-kid"
[Wiz-kid is a patronising term old people use to describe 'kids' who know about computers here in Great Britain (unsure if the term is cross-culture)]
She, "You'd better believe it, I'm 'The Wizard of OS'"
Me - Jaw drops to the floor.

It may have been said before, but...

The Sims has a huge female following and possibly one of the biggest fanbases of any game. There is absolutely loads of user made content available on the internet - I know, my significant other has downloaded literally gigabytes (when compressed!) of it.

If you are suffering from bored-girlfriend syndrome introduce her to the sims (+ expansion packs) and notice the difference.

  15. Microsoft's Anti-Piracy Policy on Slashback: XPiracy, Panel, Gentoo · · Score: 2, Insightful

Microsoft are saying that they wont provide the latest service packs for their software for pirates. Doesn't most of the world pirate MS Windows? Do you think people pay for it if they had to? What do you think would happen to the market share of Windows if Microsoft make it tougher to pirate their OS? Do you think developers will be so keen to support an operating system with a declining user base?

All this could be a blessing in disguise for Linux/MacOS as people may be forced to look for an Alternative to Windows. I mention MacOS since, although it isn't free, if I had to pay for an OS I know which one I would choose.

Microsoft really needs to do something about it's image -
Having been landed in court for antitrust violations and with their software needing updates every week, Microsoft are really looking bad, and people are really looking for an alternative.

With MacOS and Linux getting updated so much faster, the software Giant and Monopolist will need to act quick if it wants to stand any chance of making it through the to the next decade.

This is rubbish! The parent post is a perfectly valid opinion, and imo is entitled to being part of the discussion; by modding it -1 you are effectivley saying it isn't relevent to the discussion which (once again, imo) is wrong. SModding down stuff that shows the opinion of people on the other side of the argument will lead to unbalanced and biased discussions.

  19. Consequences of P2P on Senator Plans P2P Summit · · Score: 1

This is a good thing. If filesharing becomes tolerated by govt there would be less money in the music industry and more people making music because they enjoy it rather than for the money. IMO there is far too much bad music at the moment, and im pretty sure a lot of it would disappear if there was less money in the industry.
