    This is not botting.

As a matter of fact, the behavior he described can be easily replicated on a standard keyboard using WoW's built-in API. It is a simple matter to write a macro that will watch your health, heal you if if drops below a certain threshold, switch weapons based on any of a number of circumstances... etc. Bind that macro to a key, and just press the key over and over. Perfectly legit.

He didn't say he was away from the keyboard, he simply said he was watching tv while grinding out weapon skill. If all you have to do is press one button... that seems entirely plausible. He's not gaining any extra information or abilities from the programmable keyboard, so I don't see the sense in this banning.

There is far more consoles that do not have online than there are that do. It makes perfect sense to sell more games to more users to make more money. If the game was any good they would come out with a robust single player to sell to the majority of console users. This shows their lack of confidence in the game over all and in the single player mode.

The single player mode is not good enough to sell the game to enough Gamecube owners to make it profitable for that platform. That says much about the game for any console owner.

So, how long have you had your Gamecube?

I've largely turned to Metacritic for movie reviews these days. They convert the rating systems of various sources into a standard 0-100 rating, then give you the composite ratings of "experts" as well as visitors to the sites.

It really lets you get a feel for the general sentiments surrounding the movie (or video game, or cd/dvd... etc) while allowing you to disregard the handful of skewed reviews.

I take serious issue with the blanket classification being applied in this case. What it appears they have missed is that within almost all gaming communities, more than one archetype of players exists. Players almost always fall into the "power gamer" or "casual gamer" category.

The people I think they are attempting to target are the casual gamers. These are the people who obsess over what color their character's eyes are, what they're wearing, etc. If that's what makes them happy, then more power to them. However, if the Israeli military feels this type of person is less attached to reality and thus a liability, then I could see a justification in the actions they have taken.

Power gamers, on the other hand, are concerned with winning. That is what drives them. They don't care if their "character" is represented by a detailed miniature, or a piece of pocket lint. Making optimal decisions and maximizing their chances of success are key. I would think the military would want to target these people for recruitment. Instead, they are being lumped together under the same label as the casual gamers.

I suppose I take issue with the actions themselves being singled out and not the motivations behind the people taking the actions.

I think the distinction people tend to draw here is that misfortune visited upon "bad people" is typically viewed as not necessarily deserved, but at least not tragic. "Normal" rapes (and the other events you so enthusiastically described) are, without question, tragic. It's apparently acceptable to make fun of non-tragic misfortune, but don't hold your breath waiting for tragic misfortune to suddenly become funny.

Living in the middle of Atlanta, my viewing conditions were about as far from ideal as they could be. The light from the city is extreme, not to mention there was very, very heavy cloud cover tonight.

That said, what a show! I threw on a heavy coat, took a thermos of hot coffee down to the pool area at my apartment complex and relaxed in a lounge chair. I reclined to give myself the perfect view of the constellation Leo... well, more accurately, a perfect view of the dense clouds covering the area of sky where Leo should have been. I waited from about 4:45 - 5:30 before the first real break in the clouds appeared. What followed was about 30 minutes of some of the most memorable celestial activity I have ever witnessed. Even with all the light interference, I saw probably a hundred bright streaks across the sky, some coming in rapid succession. Most left amazing smoky streaks behind them that lingered for a few seconds.

I hope everyone else with conditions as poor as mine stuck it out. It was truly a sight to behold and never forget.
