  1. I thought the article was about the game on SCOrched Earth · · Score: 2, Funny

Scorched Earth. I guess I need to look at the article sections closer. Tell you what, though - if someone created a modern, online multiplayer version of Scorched Earth (like Worms is, but with the traditional tanks), it would make for ten times more interesting an article than this "SCO's on crack" ad naseum.

Who wouldn't want to hear KMFDM, and furthermore why would they be frightening at all?

Well, you and I would survive, but when we hit a britney spears fan, it would be like a matter/anti-matter collision - the KMFDM would throw them out of balance, and the britney spears... ooh, the pain. I can't even think about it, it's so horrific.

I think it's a great idea to be able to see what other people in your proximity are listening too

Until you chance upon me while I'm listening to KMFDM and you realize that there are some things you never wanted to hear. Then you spend the next hour trying to forget the experience.

  4. Nice, but how about some concrete answers on The Blind Men and the Elephant · · Score: 4, Informative

Sure, it's nice to think about a book that you "don't need charts or diagrams" for, but for practical help with project management, there's the old standby, Fredrick P. Brooks The Mythical Man Month . That book alone has been the most helpful thing to me at my current job in managing projects, requirements, and all that. This book about an "invisible elephant" may have a cute analogy, but The Mythical Man Month will actually help you out.

Plus, you can probably dig up a used copy of it for super cheap, as appossed to lining some hack author's pockets.

  5. Re:361MPH on Japanese Train Sets A Speed Record Of 581 kph · · Score: 1

high-speed Japanese train set a new record of 581 kph, breaking its own previous record.

If only we could do everything in metric, then we'd be set. I'd rather cruise at over 100 kph! than at a measly 60 mph.

Heck, I can figure out how many meters per hour I'm going in about 1 second when using metric, but when using "standard", I waste an hour and a half trying to remember exactly how many yards there are in a mile, and I then have to multiply 60x1,(somthing) and that something is just too difficult. So, I'm looking forward to the day that I can travel 581,000 meters per hour (what, a smidgen less than 10000 meters per second?) here in America.
