If you have not had a family yet, limit yourself to 2 kids of your own and adopt the rest if you want more. If you already have a family, teach your kids not to have more than 2 of their own either.

According to the United Nations, the global population could be as high as 11 billion in 2050 or as low as 8 billion, if the right programs are put in place now.
Ayn Rand died on welfare and medicare, two things Ryan would cut to the bone if he had a chance. Part of the reason she was living on government assistance was that she was sick with cancer. She refused to believe the medical warnings about smoking. In that way she was a forerunner of the TEA party type denialists. The mentality of believing what you want because your opinion matters as much as someone who has studied something for years when you have not.
I don't things happen like that in the real world anymore. There may be a few boutique livestock farms that operate like that and sell meat few people can afford. Most meat comes from animals kept in factory farms whose waste is just dumped ( can't be used for fertilizer because of the toxins in the feed ).
Lastly, it takes about 11 pounds of wheat to produce one pound of beef. Similar ratios exist for other meats and other palatable to humans plant products. If you are interested in saving fossil fuels and fertilizer, the easy choice is to eat your wheat/plants directly ( whole grain pasta, whole grain bread, cereal, etc ) instead of filtering it through a cow where you have to use...........and grow, and use resources for 11 times more.
You can buy a low sugar cereal in just about any supermarket. Cows milk isn't high carb. You can also got non-sweetened soy or almond milk.
You can buy whole grain bread for your lunch, peanut butter without sugar and you can buy 100% fruit jelly
The carbs in pasta are extremely low glycemic
If all of that wasn't true, you could still pick many other easy meals for a Meatless Monday
cereal comes from grain, you choose one of the many varieties that don't have a lot of junk in it. Ditto for the bread for your sandwich at lunch and the past at dinner. Most supermarkets sell peanut butter, cheap, that is just peanuts and salt. If you want Jelly that is just fruit you might have to pay a little more but a jar can last several weeks.
Save money on your utility bills, buy a gadget and help the environment at the same time.
Install low flow shower heads. You get a similar perception of "thrust", but with less water. These things can save you a lot on your water bill.
Heating water is another large portion of utility expenses and taxes the environment ( ie nasty things are burned to heat the water ). Wash your clothes in cold water when you can.
the production of 1 kg broken rice costs 3,400 L water
the production of 1 kg eggs costs 3,300 L water
the production of 1 kg wheat costs 1,300 L water
Google on "Meatless Monday", it is an international effort to get people to eat meatless for one day a week ( Monday ) to reduce pollution and other environmental problems. For example, for one day a week have cereal for breakfast, A PB & J and Banana sandwich for lunch and a plate of pasta for dinner.
I've seen various articles that doing ONLY Meatless Monday helps the environment more than being a pretentious "locavore" all week long.
If you are interested in more information about the connection between good choices and the environment here are some short articles:

I think eventually companies like Amazon may spell the doom of most ( not all ) brick and mortar stores, tech or not. It is much more convenient to order exactly what you want while sitting in your chair and have it delivered to your door. Probably a lot more eco-friendly too as your goods will be "car pooling" with the delivery man. Picking something up in person either means taking a chunk of your time on a weeknight or a weekend, assuming the store has what you want.
The only motivator, if you are not into shopping for its own sake, is the price of gas versus the price of shipping. As gas prices change, something like an "odometer by money" could tip the balance in favor of just buying what you want online.
Even supermarkets like Giant have delivery services, so they aren't immune unless someone is a gourmand who wants to inspect their food before s/he buys it.
Tesla Motors already has a very nice electric car that will suit most people's needs. The only bad thing is the price ( about 90K - they are paying off R&D )

Google ( as well as the Federal Government and the auto industry ) should forget about hybrids and focus on enhancing all electric cars. These cars will work with whatever form of energy is used to generate electricity.
Maybe the can donate money to battery research to either get longer range batteries are ones that charge fast enough for a pit stop.
I believe the internet/search engine companies are giving in to the PRC.
Having the US government, under the current administration take them to task for it is a bit rich considering they just extened the Patriot Act, the NSA is tapping all sorts of communications and the "executive branch" is trying to extend special powers that many experts claim they legally don't have.
If you a person is watching that many movies maybe it would be better for her to think about getting out more or doing the things people complain about "not having time" for:
1. getting or maintaining a romantic relationship 2. losing weight 3. overthrowing the bush administration 4. linux from scratch 5. mowing the lawn
As I was reading this article I kept thinking how MS copied these features that already existed in firefox and being annoyed how MS would get the glory for them all.
I realized at that point, I had become one of the many Opera fans who have made similar posts about firefox and how Opera had x,y, & z first.
I loved it when the RSS feed from slashdot ended up in the tech section on Google News. Along with articles from the New York Times, I got to read something published by "Pizza Face"
I guess since it wil be open source someone can discover if Google builds any nonauthorized information gathering into the system, but with all of the stuff in the news about Google would you trust an OS, for your privacy, from Google?
Instead of being transmitted through air or bodily fluids it is transmitted through soft drinks, chips, and fast food. Frequent and regular movement appears to work the contagion out of the body faster slowing down, if not reversing symptoms.
I remember seeing a PBS show years ago that showed that both scientists and serial killers had similar patterns of brain activity in the frontal lobe region ( the "control centers" )
Both groups, very analytical, both groups with incredible attention to details.
FWIW, as a slashpert with no real expertise in this area my uninformed opinion is that it means nothing that diverse groups of people use similar areas of their brains in similar ways.
A hobo can walk on the same path in central park as Wall Street Executive. That doesn't make him rich.
There have been a number of articles and interviews over the years stating that he has temper tantrums at his employees. I saw one video interview where he admitted it and said he did not have a problem with it as his people knew they were good.
He has accomplished a lot as a CEO, but other CEOs have had similar accomplishments to his and they have done so while behaving like adults.
It will be a great day when the economy improves without pollution and population levels rising.

I think you posted a reply meant for someone else in response to my comment about Meatless Monday and reducing water.

Yay! I like my browser, email client and irc app integrted out of the box. I'm happy this is still around.
Now, if people would start making themes for mozilla again. The default and the ones I have found are butt ugly.
Maybe I will learn to make some myself. I wouldn't mind a firefox themse for mozilla or a kde theme ( for current releases ).
