Cable news networks dont give a fuck about you, the news, or anything that matters to the public. They are giant corporations that only care about the money.

This is about money. NBC refuses, Fox refuses, CBS, ABC refuse... and CNN says "Look over here guys, we'll do it!" And now CNN gets their name everywhere on youtube. This is all about money and image. CNN is saying "we're on your side!"

There isnt a reason NOT to release the debates online and allow people to do whatever they want with them... other than money... So what is the reason for releasing them? Money.

CNN is just trying to fill a void in the market in hopes they will 1 up the competition and in the end earn more viewers through "trust"

HOWEVER there is a lot of people having all kinds of problems with the 8800gtx.

I'm only ranting because there is nothing left to do, short of buying a 7900 based card :) And I'll spread the word about Nvidia's problems because that is the only thing one can do in my position besides tinkering component which i've done, although as you've mentioned, and i completely agree with... Often the problems are just the hardware/software combinations that cause strange things like this. So sure, the problem could be in my software combination. For all i know the Nvidia forceware drivers may completely blow on a qx6700. I do not know. But my experience has been quite problematic with the 8800gtx... and i've certainly seen plenty of others with all kinds of driver issues.

As for the driver being final in xp. I dont beleive that. Just because it got certified, doesnt make it final. The control panel is still a work in progress. I'm not sold that they are final. Call me a conspiracy lover but i'm not sold on it. Again i havent gotten to put the new drivers through its paces because i have decided to reinstall XP and or give Vista 64 a run....

I'm not coming down on you. I agree in many respects, and your point is well taken... Its just my experience with the 8800gtx has been that a lot of people are having problems with it.... unfortunately even in XP.

But your point still stands... and as i said before, it will always apply in general to these technical situations... but this time i really feel Nvidia is lacking in the support this hardware cycle.

I'm not everyone. That is correct. But i am one of many having problems with the 8800gtx. Check the evga forum, and the nvidia forums. There are just far too many people having problems with the 8800gtx. Its mainly because its new hardware, but its more so that nvidia cant develope drivers fast enough for it. They were able to make the hardware though... but as we all know.. its the drivers that make it work.

Again.. yes it works in xp... not entirely... but it works cause it has to. Nvidia has made sure it works in XP... but they do not have what i would call "drivers" yet :) We're getting beta drivers from Nvidia on XP and Vista... not finalized drivers.

I cant for the life of me imagine why you would think it is a fan boy rant? I own an nv 8800gtx, installed in my quad core qx6700 workstation which i use for 3d animation and modelling professionally. This is not a fan boy rant. I didnt just make up the opengl vsync issue... I fucking discovered it! After scratching my head and trying to figure out why in the hell opengl was so deathly slow, I ran the same opengl test on an ATI x1550 AGP that was in my web surfing computer.... The ATI smoked the 8800 in opengl performance (this is softimage XSI, not doom 3 :) )

The 8800 was choking at 15FPS will all 4 viewports being displayed, where as the ATI was 90 to 100fps... and this is all rendering at 2560x1600 on my hp 30inch monitor...

The 8800GTX has been NOTHING but hell since i got it. The few games i played... Company of Hereos for one, would render stray polygons and stretch them into infinity...

You can not run the 8800gtx with the /3G switch, or else you can expect ALL adobe applications to basically not redraw. They simply will work for 4 minutes and then a massive redraw melt down will take place...

Turn off the /3 Switch... and the redraw problem goes away... although it seems to be back with Adobe CS3, so i'm guessing Nvidia needs to fix something in their drivers again...

As for quadro cards... I've owned them. They were NEVER worth their price. Most people run Geforces, not Quadros in their workstations. Quadros are nice by insanely over priced and often lacking in performance compared to the geforces...

And WHY would i buy another quadro, when Nvidia cant even support NFORCE3 anymore, OR write a dam driver for the 8800gtx? You're saying i should invest even more money into Nvidia after having been SCREWED by them?

Hmm.. RANT yes.. Fan boy? no. I have never liked ATI. The 9800pro i owned, i was given (game developement) The ATI x1550 AGP is in my web surfing pc... The PC i basically do nothying excepot get email and do office stuff on...

Nvidia's XP drivers are stable in that XP wont crash... but they are have serious issues as i've listed.

Plenty of people edit video with a Geforce card. Nv8800GTX isnt just a consumer card. A $600 video card is not a consumer card in my eyes. Most people wont buy the dam thing. These are enthusiast cards.... Its a high performance card, the fastest yet... Are you saying it is ok to have terrible drivers for a $600 peice of hardware? Are you saying it is ok to release hardware as "vista ready" without a dam driver that functions in vista?!??

And As for the video editing overlay... I'll leave you with this. Do a search on Avid's forum. Yes AVID does recommend the Quadro line of cards for Media Composer... But if you search the forum... you'll quickly find out that the QUADRO cards have the same dam video overlay color problem. It was fixed in one of the drivers, and broken again in the next... and AVID had to tell its customers to adjust the color overlay settings in Nvidia's control panel. The problem is... It is NEAR impossible to match the overlay color, with the regular gdi color values. So when you're stopping and pausing your video in avid... the dam video colors change, which makes it quite hard to color correct etc.

Buying an expensive quadro would not solve that issue. It's all Nvidia's driver...

I just want Nvidia to support their product, which in my opinion is the best dam card out there... but it is so plagued with problems.

A friend of mine pointed out to Nvidia actually a vsync issue within their hardware, and they all run quadros... to do large format 3d at very high resolutions real time.... Nvidia's response was "ooops oh yeah thats a bug" Basically they couldnt get the cards to all sync and render the frames together across multiple displays...

    They're going to ATI now.

I could careless WHO gets my money, as long as the dam thing works.

Anyone editing in Avid Express, or Media Composer will quickly find that Video Overlay's on the 8800gtx are rendered with a different color space than regular ui rendered stuff... It makes it near impossible to match the two also because Nvidia's drivers control panel is horrible.

I found that quite funny.

Anyways After installing Ubuntu i found out quite quickly that ATI's driver was only giving me 1280x800 as a max resolution. While that is an ok resolution, I wanted to run at 2560x1600, which is the native resolution of my 30inch HP monitor. ATI's XP driver had no problems doing this, but in Linux the driver hated me. I did infact try to edit the xorg config file and all it ended up doing is giving me a virtual desktop size of 2560x1600, even though i did edit it where the monitor rez and refresh lines were in the xorg config. So i was puzzled.

Well anyways i wanted to check out Beryl, so i tried to get it working but X kept complaining about some thing in the ATI driver and i never got it to work.

I ended up then just playing around with the installed software, and checking out the package installer. Linux has improved since my redhat running days... and i think it has come a long long way but in the end i decided that it was still not worth the difficulties of learning the "finer points" of linux. By "Finer points" I mean the difficult, hacky stuff that isnt exactly ui friendly etc. I used to run bbs's with dos, qemm, desqview back in the day.. i can deal with configs and all kinds of pc problems but in the end i figured that while linux is a nice platform, putting up with the difficulty of converting isnt worth the effort because the apps are not there yet. Why put up with the difficult times, when in the end, the apps arent there to run?

Windows is easier to setup and get going and has more apps...

Vista is nice. I ended up liking its ui and how the search is integrated into the desktop. I'm no DRM fan, nor a microsoft fan really. Vista 64 ended up running ridiculously slow on my pc, using 100% cpu to do render Aero, is just silly. I tried the 32bit version of Vista and things seem to be running smoother but CPU usage is still higher than XP and for all the stink about moving the gui to the GPU, it really does use way too much main cpu. Frankly XP is faster off the main cpu than Aero is off the gpu.

I think Linux really has a solid future. It's been around for a long long time and it continues to evolve quite nicely. It is still behind in terms of user friendly usability. It's still a coders os... and thats fine... But it also needs to get even easier to do tasks. Frankly the silly program names also make it very difficult to guess which app does what :)

Linux needs to keep evolving, but at a faster rate. I wouldnt be terribly broken up if Vista was the end of the road for microsoft.... that is unless Linux doesnt improve. Linux isnt there yet for me.... but i do think it will be shortly. More and more people are running linux and i think it is gaining ground...

It just lacks the app support :(

Anyways... I'm in Vista32 on this computer... and XP on my workstation... because the apps are there, and they network easily to each other and have drivers for my printer...

Paul Mooney has done endless jokes about white people... and i love them both dearly, as well as the other black comics above because they get free speech and what it can do for all of us. It makes us laugh at each other, rather than kill one another. They're all great comics...

Jesse Jackson has publically made statements showing that he hates jews, and Al Sharpton has also said things racist against white people and have done plenty to railroad innocent white people, and never appoligizing to them when he was wrong. He even owes money per court order and hasnt paid it up to white police officers whos lives he has ruined.

Even if Don Imus were racist, he is still legally allowed to say whatever he wants. There is a double standard when it comes to what whites can say vs what blacks can say. That in itself is racist. There is only free speech. The second we apply a color standard to it, then we're institutionalizing racism.

This is going to get much worse... and everyone is affraid to talk now in public or at their job. Is that really the world America was meant to be? The land of the scared to speak?

When is it ok to talk?

Do I have to wait for a black self promoting pseudo leader that hates jews, such as Jesse Jackson to tell me?

Is that the America you want?

This isnt the civil rights movements. There arent 10's of thousands of black americans marching in the street over this. The younger generation doesnt care, and are far more liberal with language and simple find

Bingo. I'm so tired of this bullshit victimization from so called Black leaders.

But you have to remember that it is not illegal to be offensive. You are allowed to be offended under free speech and expression. That is the entire idea of protected speech and expression.

What he said was not an FCC violation in any shape or form. He could have said "nappy headed niggers" and it still would be legal.

Frankly the FCC's regulation of certain words is a fucking criminal act in my opinion. The FCC violates our civil liberties by doing this... But here's the wierd part.. The FCC allows the use of the word "nigger" but not "fuck"

The government shouldnt be telling us what words we can and cant say, and neither should Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. Al Sharpton said last night on Bill Marher's Real Time that it is absolutely different when Don Imus says nappy headed ho's than when a black rapper uses it. That is RACIST far more than anything Don Imus ever said.

According to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, Whites are not allowed to speak freely. That sounds like not allowing blacks to drink from white water fountains if you ask me. Look how far we come. Jesse Jackson has expressed his hate for jews, and Al Sharpton has expressed his hatred of white people and is on video doing a shadey deal with someone. He's also never appologized for ruining a group of white police officers lives during the Tawana Brawley case.... The cops counter sued him when they were found innocent of the rape charges that Al Sharpton was hell bend on hanging them with.... but AL NEVER apollogized to them, AND HE NEVER PAID UP THE MONEY THAT THE COURT AWARDED THE WHITE COPS.

Al Sharpton is a peice of shit. Jesse Jackson hates jews. Stupid Network news allowed these two to weasel their way into the public eye again through the use of our white guilt, and the corporate networks need to profit off sleeze. Thats all this is. Its a media built soap opera based on nothing but a fucking joke said by a radio jock that has in the past called the NY Knicks "Car Jackers in shorts" and no one cared then.

exactly. The people didnt go berzerk over the nipple... the MEDIA went berzerk of the nipple. The same thing in this case. There was no huge public outcry from millions of black Americans. Sharpton equated this to Dr King marching in the streets... The only thing wrong with that is Dr King had 10's of thousands marching with him. Sharpton and Jesse had 50 people.

This was all played out in the media at the top levels. This is a top down outrage white guilt trip. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson played a stock market game. Their outrage is equivelant to a corporations bullshit press release that is released to drive stock up, although this was created to drive stock down. It had nothing to do with black Americans, it had nothing to do with free speech obviously. They just held our country hostage for their own personal profit, at the expense of our concept of free speech. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and the other wannabe's that were on tv all week, have stated that they are hell bend on ridding America of offensive behavior and speech.

I find this scary. I wish Imus took them to court instead of appologized on the air. He should have sued Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for ruining his carear over a joke. In court he could have proved it was a joke, and either way he could easily prove that anything he says is protected speech, and there is nothing Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson could do about it. But instead this was played out in the media, where bullshit applies and laws do not.

He should have never appologized, and just said "your a criminal and a peice of shit Al Sharpton" and "Jesse Jackson, it's know that you hate jews..." Then just sued them both for extortion.
