Intel looks to be doing similar things...
So what now free world? I ask because we're losing the entire idea behind home computers.
Remember when you could invent things with your computer? How long before Microsoft stops selling programming tools to the general public? How long before programming requires a government issued liscense?
What happens to all of the screen capture applications and the uses for them? How do people make tutorials? I use screen capture quite a bit as an artist. I often will capture viewport renders out of xsi and post them as works in progress for clients etc. I'll often use it to capture windows that contain a color that i like in another program, and i paste it into photoshop to see what its value was...
The second a tool that allows more freedom is widely used, it is squashed and controlled from higher powers capable of dictatorship under the guise of law... in a so called free society. Same things happening to the entire country as a whole. Taiwan is more free than us? China is more free than us?
well those pollution and abusive human rights issues benefit us in large yummy amounts of profit! That is why we dont dare say anything about those things.
Frankly, The rich in America would enslave all middle class / poor Americans if they could get a way with it. Which is why we have an illegal immigration problem in this country.
We dont give a shit about people or each other really. Thats the hard fact. Its pretty fucking sad if you ask me.
its not that bad in ny:) been here my whole life. NYC is pretty safe overall. There are a few trouble spots but even they're not as bad as it seems. Yes there are housing projects, but dont forget people do live there, and not all of them are criminals. It just happens that there are criminals in those areas because they live in a poorer community, inside the big rich apple. You have extreme wealth and extreme poor, all at a subways distance.
seriously, marriage is the dumbest thing a man can do. The legal binding one sided nature of marriage that favors women above men in the court of law... should be enough for every man to just say no to the fucking thing.
Exactly... opengl is something ATI has never been good at... until they fixed their drivers to with xsi. From then on, their opengl drivers have been pretty good. This is why Nvidia is such a surprise. Nvidia has completely fucked their opengl driver on the 8800's. The XP drivers are better than teh vista drivers, because atleast with the xp drivers, your dam pc will boot and run;) But that doesnt make them good drivers. They are horrible at opengl applications. There is a bug with Vsync that will totally fuck Softimage XSI, and Maya. If you have Vsync on you get about 15fps with a fucking 16 polygon cylinder in your scene displayed in all 4 views.
ATI never had that kind of performance problem.
Also with many games, you'll see polygons just fly into infinity and stretch accross the screen. Also dont even try using the/3G switch in windows, or PAE mode with the drivers. There are redraw bugs with adobe apps where it wont render any adobe window. The drivers are a mess. It has been since Jan 10th. Go to EVGA's forum and see how many people are complaining about the 8800 in general, not just with vista.
Nvidia has completely failed on the Vista front, despite selling the card as a "ready to work with vista" label on the box... when no drivers even existed...
Nvidia is playing catchup, and many people fear the hardware has issues. Nvidia is going to release the 8900 series cards soon... and they havent even gotten the 8800s to work. What does that tell you?
if your in 3d animation and post production, you are using opengl, not direct 3d. All of the major software apps for 3d animation and post production/compositing use opengl and not direct 3d.
hahaha.. been there my friend. But hey we were friends, and we even fucked a little here and there as just friends:) Anyways we dont talk anymore cause she's a crazy fucking bitch.
Lets see, there is Best Buy and... well... Circuit City. Ok Walmart sells some electronics, and Target sells a fucking toaster and an xbox360.
I just dont see how punishing workers that work hard for your company is the way you go about saving money. They are the ones that make your company great and a joy to return and do buisness with. Maybe i dont get it. Maybe i'm too idealistic.... But it just makes me hate the company more when they treat their workers like shit.
Maybe i'll return the headphones i bought at Circuit City the other day. They were $100 cheaper on amazon anyways... And the guy at circuit city was very nice and helpful, he even took a look online to see if the price was still $200. I fear that today he probably has lost his job.
too bad intel's gpu's all suck huh? Gee.. whens the last time i bought an Intel video card... uhm... never.
AMD and ATI have a better partnership. I'm still waiting for intel to try and buy Nvidia. With Nvidia's latest disaster known as the geforce 8800gtx, i'm curious if they're ready to sell out to intel.
The 8800gtx performs like shit in opengl apps. an $80 apg ATI card out performs the geforce 8800gtx ($600) in opengl applications in XP.
NVidia has released a driver for the geforce 8800's since jan. It still doesnt function in Vista correctly, and it has major issues with xp, including many games rendering very fucked up, overlay issues with adobe applications that just stop redrawing any adobe windows, Vsync issues that cause the card to run like absolute shit, and of course opengl... its a wonder why people keep buying this dam card cause i regret it so much.
This story is on slashdot every month for the past 4 years:)
linux is greener... we get it. enough, its the holy operating system without applications.... NOTHING HAS FUCKING CHANGED. Get the apps, then i'll give a shit if its greener;)
The biggest factor in folding all of these devices into a single device, is battery life. With an ipod you have a seperate battery that isnt always on, where as your phone is going to be running all the time. Lets say you've been listening to tunes all day on your phone, how long will the battery last on that important call you have to take on the run? The more functions you put into a single device, the more usage that device gets, which places more demands on the single powersource inside of it. With seperate units, you have seperate batteries which of course means longer run time.
The iphone also does not have an 80gig hard drive and it wont for some time.
I dont buy from CA online anymore because of their tax. It would be a shame for Washington to make the same mistake. All it will do is drive buisness out of the state.
Will US citizen's only be able to use words like "Fuck" "Tits" "Pussy, "Cum" "Anal" "Assfucker" etc on.xxx domains? What happens to a teenaged US Citizen that says "Oh god, i want to fuck the shit out of this girl at my highschool" on his website, or any other forum no located on a.xxx domain?
More so, will all citizens of the US be head liable for anything that is considered pornographic if they post it to their non.xxx domain?
I have a serious fucking problem with the idea of.xxx.
DO NOT let them take power of the net like that. It has little to do with the children seeing sex... because all they have to do is by accident, walk in on mom and dad fucking one day in their own home. What about other children in school ? What about hearing someone in the distance in public saying "dude, i fucked this girl last night so hard"...
What exactly is the point of a.xxx?
To make porn easier to block? Thats like saying a windows software firewall is going to keep your computer from being trojaned. It's just not as simple as they make it sound. Would myspace been completely liable for any teen that posts their tits on their myspace? because its not a.xxx?
What we're talking about here.. is giving people the legal right to prosecute free speech and expression. Not protecting children.
How far will they take this.xxx idea? I tend to think, if we give them this power, they will take it as far as they can.
The net is perhaps the last true openly free environment we have in the US with reguards to expression and speech. Infact it is the ultimate form of it, because we can do it by sharing our voices in audio, our lives through pictures, and our wifes face with cum on it through video...
You get the point.
Parents have enough tools at their disposal, that will do the same job as any.xxx site would. It's called parental filtering software, that can block every dick, cum, pussy, snot fucking word or rusty trombone phrase imaginable... along with any.jpg,.vid, or.com that has any matching material. The effect of having a.xxx woudl be the same as just running the parental filtering software.... because after all, nothing is fully secure.
The truth is, little jenny is going to see that picture of the guy with the giant tumor on his dick... because it'll be named Justin_Timborlake_is_hot.jpg. OR she'll see brazillian girls getting shit on by horses... by clicking on "mudpony.jpg"... and of course lets not forget tubgirl... ah yes.. tub girl...
OR.. mom can have it this way...
Little jenny wont be able to get on any.xxx sites, but google doesnt know how old you are... and there's bound to be plenty of cached images of things little jenny shouldnt see. OR how about little jenny is curious about sex and instead of asking mom and dad, kind of wants to search for information on birth control, or how to kiss for the first time...
Surely there's no porn on torrents... Torrents have nothing to do with.xxx domains. Are you saying little jenny wont find porn on torrents or p2p? How about the newsgroups?
Will this be a way to legislate torrents and all kinds of traffic, under the notion that children may see porn on these said torrents because these torrents do not respect the.xxx domain scheme... and therefore our government decides to make all torrents illegal because there is no way that they can respect the.xxx domain plan?
Just how far, will people take this.xxx
How much power do they want?
They dont use parental software as is... They dont even use their fucking V-chip. And like i said,.xxx isnt going to solve the problem.... and who said theres a problem anyway
Hey its only fair. If they want to have.xxx domains just they can sue the shit out of you for posting pics of your girl showing her tits, on your.com... then i want to be able to sue the religious nuts for not keeping their religious bullshit propaganda on a.BS
I understand you can detect those silly code dots they put in etc.. but i'm thinking any automatic pixel pattern detector will have a hard time with the compression. Plus it would need to reference a constant updated database of all media because companies would want to use their own codes per show/movie so they can use that data to figure out how and what to sell to us:)
Do you upload the video to youtube as flash? or does youtube convert from mpg,dv, avi to flash for you?
What does CBS/Viacom want? Google doesnt have technology to magically scan pixel patterns and match them up to CBS tv shows when someone uploads a video.
Google takes down material when asked.
It is that simple.
Anything else expected by CBS/Viacom is unreasonable and impossible to do.
Google should just kick CBS and Viacom and all of its properties off of Googles search engine.
BTW CBS was partnered with a search engine for a while. One.com or something like that. I forgot what the hell it was called but you would win points the more you searched which would enter you in a monthly drawing for a million dollars.
Perhaps CBS is just pissed off that their investment was a complete failure thanks to Google's dominating power.
These companies dont get it. Its a new generation of media. Things are different, and laws much adapt as do the companies... to the new way we access and share media. The internet is a lonely place without video, music and text.
Posting a video on Youtube is the way things are, and have evovled. It's not a crime, its a new use of technology. Its a way to say "HEY man.. check out my new audio tape... this song is great" and then you play it for your friend.
Now we can say "hey world.. check this out... i liked it, maybe you will" or "I made this funny edit of wolf blitzer saying stupid things"...
Its just a new world. Laws need to lighten up not tighten down. There's a great benefit to having your video being displayed somewhere. I would think CBS would be greatful for the free publicity, plus the fact that they dont have to invest money to host that on expensive servers with demanding bandwidth expenses.
America is insane. I feel ashamed to be an American.
We are so fucking powerless against these morons that use these silly trump card excuses to control us all....
Freedom is good for children! Privacy is good for children! Free speech is good for children! A representative government is good for children! Freedom of Religion is good for children!
Politicians and greed... are bad for children.
Either we kill the politicians... or we kill the children.
"Sorry. Free ride time is over. Whoa. That is a scary statement. What free ride? Are you saying "Privacy and America is over" ??????
That is quite scary.
You're right... writing "fuck all fags" on a wall does have consequences, but what you failed to see is my point, which was it can have unintended consequences.
Committing a crime is not exclusive to people that request privacy. That is a very scary thought you have there. That basically throws out the entire idea of innocent until proven guilty. You're assuming people are guilty for wanting to keep their political beleifs anonymous and private? Someone may want to talk openly about being gay online... but their boss is a strict homophobe. They may talk to people about it online anonymously because they fear being fired for being gay. They may not be bashing their boss, but may be asking things like "how do i deal with this personally? or I cant beleive how closed minded my boss is, i'm so affraid to act like myself in front of him because i know it would cost my job" I mean people could be having very serious problems that they want to talk to other people, in a private anonymous setting online.
Thats not criminal.
I dont want to live in a society where we automatically assume all people to be guilty.
Its wrong. The more we treat people like criminals, the more they will resort to criminal activity to escape the governments laws.
I'm not sure a relentless stalker could follow someone to the point of that person commiting suicide, if that person has the ability to be anonymous and hidden. They could escape the harrasment by privacy alone.
Their is no perfect solution, but privacy needs to be protected. It is fundamentally important to the way our society functions and feels secure with being themselves.

"Most people buy computers for the applications they can run on them"
God i hope your a linux zealout, because so few linux zealots actually get this.
