Please refrain from voicing your personal political opinion regarding the CSU in this dogmatic way. They are a democratic party in a democratic country, winning around 50% of all votes regularly in Bavaria. While I do not support their vote on the Linux issue, I respect them as what they are - not a "nuisance" but the strongest political force in south-eastern Germany.
Why does IBM use PC hardware? Wouldn't it make more (marketing) sense to use one of their own platforms, I guess the z-Series should be the most suited for that amount of data...
Maybe not well known outside of Germany, but it gives you much more technical possibilities than Lego.. I have seen university student projects done in it.
Back in the days you really needed to have some creativity to build somehting with Lego, not just putting together fancy parts of a spacecraft...
I think it's a good thing they are forced to put demands on kids' creativity once again...
There was a story on extracting DNA from fingerprints. Of course not with the digital image of a fingerprint though, maybe the US authorities should consider going back to cardboard after all.

This is fine living in a wired world, but in a lot of places you just dont have fast internet connectivity available.
