It seems to me that they are going to put some proprietary glue into their embedded distro.
From talking with them, it didn't sound like it would be GPL'd.
Its my understanding (someone from Lineo can chime in here and correct me), that they will sell "their" linux with a Royalty fee for each system deployed.
That is the pre-historic business model currently used by several of the embedded O/S companies.
The problem with making Linux into an embedded system is that it is a PITA to strip it down to a reasonable size (I know, I am doing it now).
The user interface should be intuitive, that said, the first an only intuitive user interface is "The Nipple".
According to their Tech page they are using GEO stationary birds, this will be much more latent than say Teledesic's LEO (Low Earth Orbit) sattelites.
You won't Quake with iSky, well you might, but you will die quickly.
yuk.
They will use the DIAB compiler (Which beats GCC hands down in the embedded space).
The DIAB compiler is part of ISI, WindRiver bought out ISI. (or is buying).

I called Intuit just now, she said that they cannot say if there is a native Linux version
planned.
She did say that I was only the SECOND PERSON to
ask for it.
Intuit: 1-800-446-8848
I have a hard time to believe that I am only the second person to ask for it.
Maybe we need an open source version of QuickBooks ?
I bet it would have survived if it was running a 366Mhz PowerPC 750 with Linux and PHP.. maybe Phorum
you sure that isn't GNU/LINUX/PPC ?
no offense to the dude with long hair who's
views may differ from mine, and to whom I
owe much for the FREE software.
