Did I miss something? Most of the developers I know have used Java, but they haven't dropped C/C++ as their main development language.

  2. Dah.. on Iomega Ships 35GB 'Son of Jaz' · · Score: 1

We had some very bad experiences with the original JAZ drives. After alot of use the disk and/or drive would malfunction (make a loud noise) and both would be rendered useless. The more interesting part was that if you took that disk that was damaged and put it into a brand new drive it would proceed to hose that drive as well.

The "right" being infringed here is very close to speech The right IS speech. Just as code is speech to programmers, art is speech to artists. It's their way to express themselves, no matter what they're doing to the images of money.

What I'd do with all that space, but I'm sure some corporate customers will be very interested. Just as a side note, I have a LaCie 20 GB Firewire & USB 1.1/2.0 drive from them and it works like a charm. The drive comes up fine in both Windows and Linux (RH 8, 2.4.20-28) and is fast enough to compile programs right on it. I would definitely trust this product, too bad I can't afford it I would take a week off from work justto try and fill it up.

I think that society today is more interested in quick results then in long term effects. When a child is restless, parents seem to just want them to quiet down and look for the easiest ways out. When a parent is too busy with their own lives, the TV should not become a baby sitter. Why? There is no independent thought going on, the child is simply entertained. The child is not forced to think about what is happening in most cases because the answer is inevitably answered later on in the show, if there even is a question to ponder. Parents should never be too busy for their child, if that is the case, they shouldn't have had one at all. I am no sociologist, but one thing that makes me believe that sticking children in front of a TV does a-lot more bad then good is watching my father getting older. Last year all he did was watch TV, even educational things like the discovery channel. I noticed that gradually his mind became a little duller, you could tell by the way that he spoke. He couldn't take it anymore, he even noticed that he was slowing down. Now he works for my sister's school doing odd computer jobs, and he is back to a sort of "normal".

  7. Sadly.. on Lego to Stop Producing Mindstorms · · Score: 2, Insightful

It may be a change in how children play from then until now. From what I see, a lot of parents just stick their children in front of TVs now to get them to be content. I think many people need to take a good look at the benefits that these kinds of creative toys have to offer for young learners.

While the execution protection idea is a good one, I can't help but wonder whether or not it is TCPA/Trusted Computing related? Is this a first step into this technology for Windows? If so im not really sure I want Service Pack 2.
