Ah, but that is in our current world of consequences. Example, a friend is a teacher. Recently, a girl pulled a knife on another girl and threatened to slice her neck. Punishment = 2 day suspension. He jokingly said if she would have killed her that would have up'ed it to a 4 day suspension. So when I was in school, knife = expulsion. Another example, a pregnant girl disappeared when I was in school and may or may not have returned due to shame. Now, again, my friend is a teacher and I could not believe it, but now, the class will often go en mass to the hospital after delivery to have a party for the young mother. Oh, and of course child care at the school. So we went from shame to be a pregnant high school girl to lets have a party, and I have my badge of honor. Guess what, more high school moms. Who would have thought?
Umm if the power was off, how did you open the door? While you can open the door from the inside with the manual levers, you cannot open the door from the outside without power. You must use the key to unlock the hatch and then pull a cord to open the door. I imagine convertible vetts have a similar mechanism.
I imagine it does some of the same stuff my new lennox one does. Health checks etc. Mine for example validates temp outside before kicking in the compressor to avoid destroying it. Also checks static pressures in air flow to check filter flow rate. Keeps track of any error codes thrown by other units (furnace, A/C, etc). And I imagine the trane is also like the lennox. Don't give it your wifi password and it will not go on the interwebs. I like the extra stuff my Tstat can do, but do not want it on the WAN/LAN, so I just don't set it up.
So if 1.1m people divvy up 500MW of power, doesn't that mean on average each user gets 500W. Sounds low given it is a desert and I imagine people crank the A/C. My panels can put out 3.6KW and that is just enough to run the A/C when sun is full on.
Also a vette owner, the selling dealer explained it adnausium in addition to the fuel door release. You just cannot fix dumb. If you don't understand how to use a product why would you buy it? I've zero sympathy.
Agreed, I don't get it. Media is doing the equivalent of watching a train wreck and cannot stop. For example, adults would have asked trump to reconsider going to the iowa debate, and let him know if he failed to, no more invites to future debates. You don't want to play now, then there are consequences, no seat at the table next time. And then all the media spent forever discussing his no show. Again, then should have ignored his absence. Seriously does anyone know what he will do when he gets in office? Has he any polices except, I'm great, I'm winning by ALOT, they aren't very good and everyone knows it, Those people (mexican, muslim, women, ???) are murderers, rapists,...
No mention of power consumption. And as a guy who just dd a pool controller than used 7 GPIO + 4 analog ins, it would not fit the bill. And as a guy about to do an irrigation controller that needs 8 GPIO, again, no dice. I've been settling on beagleboard greens for my projects lately. Low power (2.5W) lots of GPIO, and analog in that is good enough. Raspberry would have worked for irrigation, but price is close, and had an extra beaglebone from initial order in case I blew one up when building the pool controller.
Thanks for making my point. I don't recall moon shots in the 1890's. So my point of data from the 1890's as a questionable gold standard of measurement stands.
Me too. I've been playing with a new pool controller I built to replace the old one and added a couple more thermistors. I've been very surprised with how difficult it is to calibrate them. Getting accuracy to even one degree is not trivial. I ended up calibrating to ice water, because I really just want to make sure pumps are running below freezing. Even that was not easy as unless you stir continuously and fairly vigorously, the temp of the water is around 36 even though it is ice water in a styrofom cup. Then the other surprise was how just a couple of feet makes a difference in the temp. the probes register. All in all, I'm sure experts can do this pretty well now, but I seriously doubt 100 years ago the accuracy was very good. And just how often did they go out and check the measurement back in 1890?
In my area, they can't build a highway in 20 years, how in the world will they build a "intelligent" one in 10? The cost of upgrading all the roads and cars in the US to this new V2V driverless world will be in the quintillions. Why not just go with the Jetsons prediction and we will all be in flying autonomous cars with a robotic maid for our every whim by 2025? Saves the cost of all that road buildout.
Probably because fire is typically reddish (unless you were a blacksmith) and the moon was white at night when it was cold. History is hard to overcome.
So true, probably why when someone can actually sing (without autotune) and write like Adele, they break sales records when they come out with an album. As I understand it, her entire tour is already sold out. I saw (way to late to buy a ticket) she was coming here this November. Artists in the 70's and 80's were more likely to write their own stuff, but not always. Todays artists almost never write their own stuff, most can't sing in key, but they must be "pretty" enough for videos. Give me back the old days.
I used the original air/water temp probes (these are 10K thermistors). The original thermistors are in plastic and have a pretty slow response, so I also use 2 vishay 50K thermistors which have quick response for extra air temp probes. None of these are isolated as the water probe is encased in plastic so no electrical connection to the water and the air probes do not touch the water. Note that the power converter is isolated, the power itself is on a GFCI, and of course the relays are isolated. So it is pretty isolated from the pool and juice. If you look on my homepage and jump to the links page, scroll down to the bottom, there is a reference to the whole system including pictures of the final result.
I ended up using a beaglebone green to replace my pool controller. Analog I/O for temp sensing, cheap, low power and easy to use. I had some raspberries, but went beagle for the built in analog. I could have bought a external A/D, but these things are so inexpensive, figured I'd try the beaglebone to try another platform. I'm pondering replacing my irrigation controller next with either the beagle or raspberry. I guess time will tell how resilient the beaglebone is to being in an outside enclosure environment. Still given that the replacement board for my pool was crazy expensive, I could get a new beaglebone every year and still be ahead moneywise. And I ended up doing an android app to control it so now I can program the pool from anywhere.
Umm, churnobyl blew in 86 (~30 years) and it is still very hot in the core, the hospital that treated the victims, and several other places. Workers still wear dosemeters. So feel free to get a job as part of the cleanup there. Everyone has a favorite source of energy that thinks it is clean as a whistle. The ugly truth is they are all disruptive to nature and there are too bloody many humans with more popping out all the time who need(want) energy and nature is having trouble restoring balance.
This, I have a CTS-V and am often amused when a pius thinks they are going to "take me" at a light to get in my lane. There are very very few cars that I don't get in front of at a light. It is a delightful car to drive off the line or in twisties.
According to wikipedia, it was april 2013, so will be 3 years this april, and I still have not received any sort of indication my area is any time soon. Color me a skeptic, but 3 years in the tech world is vaporware.
I am in Austin and am still waiting for google. They tend to deploy in the easy spots (poles) and skip the areas with underground to avoid trenching. Its all about PR, I've been very disappointed with the rollout here. I don't even remember how many years ago it was with great fanfare city council announced the partnership with google. I'm still waiting for the luvfest to generate a fiber connection at my house in what is central austin.
The cut the cord could be analogous to customs, where "packets" have to pass thru customs. Shoot, we litigate IP, we shift tax burden thru IP, why not make IP go thru customs like real stuff.

More people eat more. 7 Bellion people eat alot more. I do not see this ending well.
He gets to claim the first to land one on soil, maybe he could try it on water and get bragging rights to water too. Billionaire problems.

You mean like uber's surge pricing?

I am ashamed to be american sometimes, but proud not to use microsoft for anything.
But would you like to be a butler? And what would it pay?

Fires from the products you mentioned are pretty rare compared to say space heaters, stoves, toaster ovens etc.
