  1. Graphic Calculators ruining math in schools. on TI Launches Three New Graphing Calculators · · Score: 0, Troll

    Im 24, and during the time i was in High school, was when Graphing calculators started getting popular. This is how I'd make sure i got 100's on all my tests.

    For derivatives, I'd map out my answer vs what the graphing calculator said: example.
    Y1=3x^2+5x (the problem)
    Y2=6x+5 (my answer)
    Y3=Y1' (the answer)

    Another solid use of this was in trig, cuz i was never good a remembering the sin,cos,cot conversions. So, the problem might have been: "Simplify sec(x)cot(x)+sin(x)cot(x)"
    a. tan(x)+cos(x)
    b. tan(x)/cos(x) + 1
    c. ... d. ...
    ... I'd just plug in a random non-obvious degree value for X to find the solution.

    You guys missed the whole point of my post. I am just saying that it seems like Gamecube is not doing well in sales because their games are targeted for kids (they do not hold many M-rated games). Just from talking to people, most have said that they prefer other systems because of these games will not be available..

    The fact is, the age of the average gamer has risen to 29 yrs old.. and their games are still targeted for kids.. If they continue to do this, theres no way they can surpass xbox and needless-to-say ps2..

    Btw.. have you ever noticed that most of the Gameboy Advanced print ads feature adults?

    Does anyone bother to check the "Last Save By" field in the document's properties? Shouldnt that give away the fact that the doc was edited?

    Another question.
    When Dell sends a quote, $3000 for a server for example, why would the customer EDIT the quote and return it.. wouldnt the Dell Sales Rep create ANOTHER quote and send it to the customer? Seems silly to me..

  5. Adaptive AI has already been in sports games on Adaptive AI in Games - Does it Really Work? · · Score: 0

    All you do is turn on "Computer Assistance" and the losing team will get a boost. So in basketball, your shots will start going in if your losing by lots. In racing, your car will go faster the further behind you are.

    So how will it work in first person shooters? Make your bullets hurt more? Make the opponents not shoot as much? I guess the best way to notice is to chase them around without shooting and see if they just run away.

    If a 10 year old kid said this to me I'd give him a high-five for having a nice computer, and then punch him in the nuts for being spoiled. (Mine was a 8086) =)
