What America has is a vote every few years to choose between one of two figureheads.
Don't you think you are over simplifying things? You are showing your ignorance of the american democratic system. In fact every four years they get to vote for a congress person as well as a president, and congress has more power than the president does. Congress represents the people much better than the president does, and has more power.
And every 2 years 1/3 of the senate also goes up for re-election. You have three houses where you can make your voice heard instead of just one, like in Canada.
In Canada, the senate is appointed by the PM, and so is the governor general. So in a sense, the PM has all the power, with little oversight.
The only problem Americans have is that they are fixated on a two party system. Extreme Right, and Right Leaning liberals.
No one with a hope that stands up for the little guy.
You'll get no argument from me here that jrun sucks arse compared to some other j2ee platforms out there like Tomcat or Jboss.
However Coldfusion is an extremely fast way to get a small to mid sized app out the door and running with minimal programming cost. It's an awesome platform.
If I bill by the project, coldfusion is my first choice. If I bill by the hour, then php is my first choice:)
Ruby on Rails is to mod_ruby what Fusebox is to Coldfusion.
Coldfusion is a language of itself [albeit a simple one] that runs on top of a J2EE engine called Jrun.../me = coldfusion person (I also know and use ruby a lot, and am working on learning RoR)
It appears no browser will be safe. Safari, Firefox, Opera, KHTML, etc. The 1995 article discusses applets, not ActiveX. This is precedent setting, and could have consequences for all browser plugins.
Dude, why not just walk over to the wireless router, plug your notebook in for a few seconds, apt-get (or urpmi, or emerge, or yum or whatever) the wpa package you need, and you're done.
These problems can also occur in real life. People who create false fronts for bank machines.
You know you are at the bank machine at the right location, so you trust that it's correct and isn't going to screw you, when in fact, you just passed your card through a card reader, and there's a camera watching you type in your PIN.
IMO, it's a real life phishing attack. The security implications are almost identical.
lol I was at the bank today, and the words "scroll up" left the bank lady with a blank gaze. I responded with "roll the wheel on your mouse up". Again, blank gaze. I grabbed the damn mouse and scrolled it up myself for her.
A copy of the fingerprint lol??? good luck on that one:)
I honestly wouldn't refill an ink cartridge on a photo printer. Droplet size is very important for good quality photos. When you refull a canon cartridge, you will likely not get the same quality as you would from a canon cartridge.
Anyway, the Canon cartridges ar between $10 and $15 CAD. That's not too expensive compared to $60 CAD for an HP cartridge.
Just to point out that you can already get the Aqua and Luna themes for Gnome. The brown theme isn't that bad, and you can change it easily enough.
Heck, Doesn't Ubuntu come with the standard Gnome themes too? Why not take 5 seconds to switch it to Clearlooks or one of the other themes that look great in Gnome?
If the default theme is the basis of deciding on which OS you'd use, XP would be the worse OS in history. Lokks like computers by Fisher Price.
Totally aware they came from the same code base. Difference is Microsoft advanced their product. Sybase didn't. I can make you a list of developments Microsoft made that Sybase didn't.
SQL Server is one of the few products in Microsoft's product line I'd say is actually pretty damn good.
In fact, out of all the developers in my office, I was the only one that would write ANSI-92 joins. Everyone else was stuck in ANSI-88.
I'll tell you what though, I made a career transition from SQL Server to Sybase ASE, and I must say SQL Server kicks the shit out of Sybase ASE. I happen to quite enjoy working with SQL Server, and find that its query language is much, much more sophisticated than others.
Where do I begin.
1) Stupid preparser.
IF OBJECT_ID('obj_name') IS NULL BEGIN
CREATE TABLE... END
The preparser pukes on that. It'll see the create and not interpret the if statement preceeding it. Gay.
2) Limited ANSI-92 support. No CROSS JOIN or FULL OUTER JOIN inside the FROM cluase. Have to jump to ANSI-88 to do it.
3) If I miss a field in the group by statement, Sybase will interpret a cartesian product for me on the table related to the field I missed. Why? Because Sybase is gay.
4) No derived tables.
5) No replace function in the T-SQL Language.
There's plenty of way worse db's out there than SQL Server. Sybase is incredibly gay. I happen to find SQL Server a charm to work with in comparison.
btw, I just quit my job and I'm moving to a DB2 shop next. I hate Sybase and I hope to never have to see that piece of crap again, except to migrate people off such a shitty-assed platform.
I had a linksys 802.11b card in FC3 that was a nightmare to install. I googled around for the solution and found it eventually, but it was still a real PITA. Apparently it was the "wrong" chipset - it wasn't supported well. I had to use the windows drivers to get it working. It sucked arse.
it is an unwritten rule to avoid all even numbers Microsoft Service Packs.
:)
No, you should apply patches and security updates when there's a full moon out, and make sure you say seven hail mary's (maries??? marys???)

Would you feel differently if it was the university was suing instead?
It's crappy, but think of it as the patent holder suing, they just sold their rights to sue to eolas.
Personally, a company that seems to serve no purpose but hold patents shouldn't be allowed to file suit. That's JMO of course.
Here's an article from 1995 (Yeah, pdf sucks, but it's very telling about what's going on)

I'm surprised no one's written spyware that attacks spybot and adaware libraries so they can go on undetected.
And what would Lego do to itself then?
Lego would destroy the standard they created. Why would you buy more Lego if it didn't work with the rest of your Lego?

The rural market is what BPL hopes to service. If they can ever get it off the ground there will be full saturation of the marketplace for broadband.
Provided they don't do something stupid like go the way of Direcway and seek to hose people in rural areas who haven't got access to cable or dsl.

Yes, I foresee rich lawyers and consumers able to claim a 37 cent rebate if they provide a receipt and fill in the appropriate paperwork.
And during that war, they burned down the Whitehouse :)
:) They have a sense of humour!
That's why we keep them around

They do not still hold with the geocentic view of the universe; they also believed the earth was flat once.
The ancient Greeks also believed in that myth. It's been around longer than the New Testament. Same with the geocentric view of the solar system.
It is, after all, a 10 yard difference, more if you include the end zones...
Remember boys, it takes a real man to get a first down with only three downs instead of four haha...
No kidding - as another poster pointed NOx != smog; smog is from particulate exhaust, such as Diesel and umburned HC.
NOx contributes to greenhouse gasses and global warming, not smog.
Cmd+Opt+Arrow IS a lot better than tabbing though.
vs.
two keys vs. three.
Granted
vs.
is the same...
Asking for an application to be exactly as another. Isn't that the issue that plagues KDE and Gnome devs?
Seems like a slashvertisement to me...
:)
And their site - it ain't no friggin' google
Google is free. Guba is bloody expensive.
If you want realism, play America's Army. Fantastic game, with the most amazing level of realism I've ever seen.
UT has nothing to do with realism.
