I know the whole story thanks. What I was staying is that the story sparked another outcry over video games. My post was accurate on this fact. The whole story does not detract from the fact that the inital one cause retailers to withdraw the game. Which supported my original point.

You obviously haven't been watching Uk news this year. The recent rise in abductions and murders by children and yes I mean kids of 7-17 years old, has seen a resurgence of the 'video nasty' crusade particularly after 'Manhunt' appeared on the shelves. 17 year old Warren LeBlanc was said to have been obsessed by the game when he murdered 14 year old Stefan Pakeerah on 27/02/04 in a copy cat style murder. This caused an outcry and the subsequent withdrawal of the game by many retailers.
just because something was a crusade years ago doesn't mean it can't become one again.

Finally a country prepared to back up their words with solid actions. Most of the countries of the world have big voiced groups proclaiming that playing 'video nasties' breeds a generation of violent criminals. There are cases to back this up as well I'm sure. It would be interseting to see if crimes committed by young people reduce if this were enforced all the time without prejudice. May just settle the argument for once and for all.

Careful, soon you'll begin to believe in the Matrix!
On a serious note you can easily see when you make points like this where stories like The Matrix get their ideas from. Every government in every country be they dictator of elected officials would find it so much easier to manage their country if they could do away with freedom of choice and run everything to a prescribed formula. Hence the occurences of so many dictators, and 'tin foil hat' paranoia's. We are controlled by one force or another on a daily basis we just don't notice most of the time because we are too busy getting on with what we belive is our life. How much of it is influenced do we really ever know? Maybe just maybe dictators aren't clever or powerful they're just lazy. Its far easier to control a nation if you take away their choices.

Is it like many other western inititatives to help foreign countries, give them it all for what appears like a dream but the hidden charges and interest will leave them crippled later? Give them the net to help them make a profit then take that profit from them in payment for all our help? Im really hoping that this isnt the case. Maybe just maybe Microsoft are going to find it increasingly hard to sell to countries whose language doesnt not follow similar rules to english (american) grammar. It could become a strong point above many others for open source products. We need language to communicate effectively. If our OS does not provide a correct form of our language surely we will use one who does. Especially if its free!
