anybody remember these guys? http://www.go-l.com/monitors/index.htm
last i recall, they had fraud rumors flying left and right, but then they showed up to some convention or other with an actual setup and made everyone eat their words. i still think a lot of their desktop descriptions sound like complete hogwash, but whatever. that grand canyon display still looks pretty badass.
if you're looking for a cheap(ish) upgrade, I cannot possibly recommend the sony clies enough. I've used the sj20, sj22, sj30, and now the sj33 for ebook reading. since I started (almost 2 years ago) I havent read a single new book on paper.
the awesome sony screen, coupled with the awesome font antialiasing of deepreader, make it actually easier on the eyes than paper. for me anyways.
no, I don't work for sony. the only reason I got to use all of those clies was because I worked in the wireless section of *gasp* best buy, and I abused the hell out of the Product Replacement Plan that I got with my original purchase. hey, all bestbuy employees do it:P
unless, of course, you are willing to hop on IRC and become a book pirate (yar)
I don't particularly endorse this kind of behavior, but i cannot deny that i haven't done it myself. i woke up one day, having realized i never read anything by william gibson.. by that evening i had everything he'd ever written on my clie, and i was engrossed for the next week solid.
of course, i later went out and gradually started purchasing the paper versions, but I don't think i ever would have, had I not had the opportunity to find out for myself whether i'd enjoy them. and screw the library etc, I actually LIKE reading ebooks on my clie. thank god for Deepreader and font antialiasing;)
My position on the behavior of The SCO Group is that they're a bunch of lying fuckweasels who deserve nothing less than a forcible sodomization with a diamond-grit-encrusted Louisville Slugger wielded by SEC Chairman Bill Donaldson himself. But so long as the stock's valuation is dependent upon the presence or absence of Clue Receptors in the neural pathways of a single human being, I have (and will take) no position in SCOX stock.
that is fucking beautiful man. you just brightened my day... oh, and also forced me to spit diet coke all over my monitor, but it was worth it.
time to make a stealing run down at the office supply closet.
honestly, I don't think it's so much about pushing linux into wider use. People in general are more comfortable with windows... fine, so be it. But if "we" can get them running the win32 version of OOo rather than MSOffice, that is still a hell of a wakeup call for Microsoft.
am I the only one here who would honestly love to see microsoft improve their software and licensing rather than just failing and being consumed by GNU/Linux/FOSS?

reading that while drinking my morning coffee = off to find yet another keyboard
All the yiddish I know, I learned from Mel Brooks films.
