I'd say that the post wasn't made by Zellius. He lives in Europe, at this point he says Wales, but I thought he lived elsewhere, but that's beside the point. Look at the properties of the picture, it's hosted at imageshack.us... That makes no sense for him to store images there. Now take it a bit further, and take the number 1 out of the url for the pic and look at what you get. I seriously doubt that is a screen cap of the infamous Zellius' computer.
I think it fitting that the number one master hacker in all of UT (the zellius bot is legendary) is the first person they banned. I wonder if they sat back and let other botters (helios, Lamp, Ten Bucks, etc. ) pass by waiting for him? lol.
I think it's almost funny that congress is all concerned about email spam when the biggest problem out there is hostile scripting in web sites.
I wrote a column for our local paper last year saying that this was a problem that was going to get out of hand, and went on to say that if a person wanted to...let's say make a politician look bad, all they had to do was put some scripting into a site that would install itself into a computer and sit back and download kiddie porn into the host machine, then find a way to get the politician to go to the web site. Give it some time, then report him. Bingo, kiddie porn on joe congressman's machine. (way oversimplified, but you catch the drift)
Poor slob in England less than 8 months later went throught the same ordeal.
And as far as maliscious coding is concerned, browser hijackers and the such, this should be illegal, period. And pop ups are making a computer do something a person did not specifically state that they wanted it to do. This should also be illegal.
Spyware should only be allowed if the "allow 3rd party information gathering" button is checked on a person's browser. No, wait, there isn't one, is there? WELL THERE SHOULD BE.
Yes, there are ways around all of this, that's why we have brains, but let's face it, we have laws to protect the ignorant from themselves as much as from others...

I play Unreal Tournament, and am in a clan called The Black Legion. We play with the Zark Assault Rifle mod.
I can tell you right now that if you give a woman an assault rifle with a scope on it, you had better hope she's on your team!!! My wife is in our clan and regularly kicks ass against men who have been playing much longer than she has!!! Hat's off to her!!!

Our protection give the player a shakedown regardless of if he's playing too well, sucks, or just stands facing a wall. If they are cheaters, they will be kicked, ips posted publicly, and banned communitywide. And our protection hardly slows anything down. I ping our server as well as most others at between 30 to 50.

Ummm, not true. We in the Zark community are busting them all the time. Ever hear of the infamous Lamp? He's an unabashed botter. I have him in my buddylist in the all seeing eye so eny time he comes on line I can find the server he's in and go harass him (non-Zark servers, mind you). Right on. I build maps for UT and have a ball doing it. Our clan server has a couple of them on it, too. Lots of neat stuff you can do with it. Just wonder, though, how to be Harry Potter maps to open in the editor... can you imagine death match at Hogwarts?
You know, you could buck the system and get away from the Johnny come lately syndrome of "game play? what's that and who cares, it's gotta use a ton of graphics and leave everyone behind".
I am into gaming big time, and let me tell you one thing; people who are in to the visuals are killing the games. Look at the original Unreal Tournament vs UT2k3. The game play from UT is so far superior to what ut2k3 has to offer that Epic not only has created a patch for ut2k3 that brings back that ut feel, but ut2k4 is supposed to have it also if and when it ever comes out. What does this tell us? IT'S ALL ABOUT GAME PLAY, GAME PLAY, GAME PLAY. Clutter up a person's pc with all the high res textures you want, but if you don't have decent playability, you got problems. Good luck. BTW, you do of course realize that everyone is saying stay away from game development, right? Then you should realize that if this is a trend, then you will be in demand one fine day, and if you have a full understanding of anything other than eye candy, you will be in big demand. And do not listen to anyone who tells you that a game has to have a 500 meg program for the game, and 1 gigs of graphics. (pssst, they're the johnny come latleys I warned you about, just humor them and they will lose interest in flaming this post and go back to playing neverwinternights...)
I am looking to open a gaming center, but am taking my time trying to see what all there is to it first. But a strategy I developed right off the bat is I think of interest to any of you wanting to draw people in.
1. Does your area have a police dept, a sherrif's dept, an army natl guard, a marine barracks? Go to them, tell them what you have, let them know that they can come and maybe the city police can take on the county police in hostage rescue situations... tournaments and all.
2. Got a college? Get with them and see if you can get with some of the students and possible for extra credit, work on game mods, 3d modeling, maps of the campuses or the town.
I have bookmarked this, as I have the financial backing I need, but will not go out on a limb needlessly. I crunched the numbers, and gaming alone will not support the center, so yes, snacks, drinks, upgrades and repairs as well as custom built machines seem to be a must. And of course hosting servers for clans comes to mind...
Great ideas floating around in here.
