I may be offtopic, but for an Army of Darkness quote I am willing to take the karma hit.

As sad as it may be that people throw away their computers when they become too spyware laden (and I do know people who have done this). It is good for the computer industry in the sense that it keep people buying new computers, when for many typical users they really didn't have to. Without a constant demand for new computers, computers would be improved less often and they would cost much more. Plus it makes for a very nice secondary market.

while this sounds good, are there any limits as to what kind of pictures can appear on the site (i.e. is there some kind of moderation system?). I am not so concerned about p0rn, but more about pictures depicting violence or other material that most people would prefer to stay way from if they could.

in all seriousness this does seem like a wonderfule thing, but does anyone know why their government is so supportive of open-source? My guess would be that their government has less pressure/influence from coperations, and thus does not share a corperation's closed-source paranoia like ours (America) does.

I dont think a BOD could get away with murder (yet), however I do agree with you that it is better NOT to vote these days. The democratic system in this country no longer represents individuals, it represents who can put together the best ad campaign. Additionally politicians are not held directly accountable to their promises in office, so they can say whatever they want to get ellected, and then do whatever their corperate masters tell them to. In my opinion the people should vote directly on what laws to pass. With modern technology this could be possible to do electronically.

I dont think that their trade secrets should become public. However I do feel that the people have a right to be informed about civil suits, especially with recent abuses of them (i.e. suing users of file sharing programs, poor use of software patents). Hopefully public access to these kinds of records might encourage them to keep their lawsuits more reasonable.
